Updated still in UCONNs region ... even with loss SC had Loren favorable geographical seeding. Charlie Creme explained that Baylor is the number one seed because they lost earlier than TN. He also stated the case that if Baylor wasn’t a number one seed then Tennessee shouldn’t be either because of their strength of schedule.

So I looked up RPI and SOS differences and found some intriguing things TN has an RPI of 8 according to ncaa.com or rpiratings.com while Baylor is at 18. Maybe they use the same thing.

While Jeff Sagarin has us at # 10 and Baylor at #2

However he also has our SOS at 21 (so a top 25 schedule) but Baylor is at 43.

Great thing is we have plenty of time to prove ourselves against great competition. Lots of ball left to be played.

I am guessing who ever wins the SEC goes out west ?!? If TN wins the SEC does it go to Kansas City and Baylor out west? What if TX wins the big 12 ? Do they get sent out west and Baylor to Lexington?

Baylor will lose both times to Texas, yes they have great post players, but there guards are no match to Texas guards.

The latest version of guessing has been updated this morning
Bracketology - Women's College Basketball Brackets and Predictions - ESPN

The SEC will be the biggest headaches in this because I feel like on a given night, our top 7 teams could all be in the elite 8 on a given night. Nobody wants to be in the UCONN bracket, which leaves Louisville, ND and Miss State. - Who do you want to meet in the elite 8? Two weeks left of regular season basketball and conference tournaments still left which means a two seeded team has the chance to fall to a 4 seed just like that. So can't put too much stock in this. I know that NO coach is paying any attention to this but as fans we get the opportunity to hope and speculate. Looking at the bracket right now. I believe #4 seed Mizzo is in the ideal situation for a run. If Miss. State finds themselves against Baylor in the regional championships - that would be the game to see. We shall see how it all plays out!

I wouldn't mind getting another crack at ND, so a 3 seed in that bracket would be a good spot. Another few losses, and the LVs could fall to a 4 seed in Albany. Some people really want to see the LVs play UConn. IDT we've played them since... 2006? I don't want to see them again until the F4... whenever that might be.

I agree. LVs will have a very good or great team if they reach Final Four. They would not have to fear playing UCONN.

My hope is that we win enough to get the home court advantage for the first two rounds of the NCAA. Were better at home and that gets us to the sweet 16. At that point everyone is good and you have to play winning basketball to advance. I think were better off if we could get Notre Dame. We can beat them quite confident that we can prevail against them. Baylor doubt it, UConn no, Miss St no. Our best shot is Notre Dame.

What about Louisville? What do you think about that match up? I think Louisville could end up with a 1 seed as well.

They would be fine as well. They are about to get beat by UConn so they will have two losses. Whomever comes out them or Notre Dame is where we need to be.

I am not sure the committee is willing to give the ACC two number ones. They might be willing to in an effort to make Baylor an example like they did with Maryland last year but who really knows. I actually think a Louisville Tennessee game would be pretty good. I also would love to see a Baylor vs Mississippi State game.

Notre Dame pulled off a 37 point swing against Tennessee, and have only gotten better since then. I don't think any of the top 4 would be easy. Baylor might be the team they match up best with if they get a #1 instead of Louisville. Russell and Brown cancel each other out, and I think Baylor has less proven depth beyond Brown, Cox and Wallace.

No reason not to. They've done it before in the past. I know Tennessee and SC were both number 1 seeds the year before Wilson joined USC. I also think ND and UConn were #1 back when they were in the BEast.

True. I just wonder what they think of Baylor's SOS. The comittee started showing the SOS in 2 parts and I don't recall them doing that before. Showing your OOC vs your in conference, where as in previous years, they would just show the combined number.

It's clear they are saying we will give you credit for a tough conference but it isn't going to completely make up for what you do have some control over and that is your OOC schedule. They are really starting to expect some of the better teams to try a bit harder in the OOC to grow the game.

I guess the question is how badly does Baylor get penalized? Ultimately, Mulkey recruits well enough that a 2 seed really makes no difference in possible outcome but she will make a stink about it for the sake of it even though she knows very well what she has been doing. Muffet passive agressively called her out about it a couple years ago. It is what it is. Someone is going to feel like they got shafted either way. Never fails.

I think UConn and Miss State have all but wrapped up #1 seeds, and it will be hard to drop Louisville and ND off the #1 line as long as they lose to no one other than each other going into Selection Monday. Both should cruise to the ACC final without a loss. At this point, I don't think a #1 from Baylor is for the taking unless they get some help.

SOS shouldn't be a problem.

Kansas @ Baylor 2/17/18 | The Boneyard

Baylor is on track to have the seventh best strength of schedule in the nation, so that means are only five potential teams they can play other than UConn.

The committee has been looking at the numbers separately (your OOC SOS and then your overall SOS) and comparing them. That is the only reason I would think maybe Baylor gets a 2 because their OOC SOS is 164. If Louisville or Notre Dame have a better OOC SOS then I am not sure you can bump them off of getting a #1 seed unless they lose to someone other than each other.

This would be consistent w/ the ruling used to justify Maryland's placement last year. The committees ruling was, "Teams with a nonconference SOS in the triple digits will not be rewarded." I think that is fair. You can't control who is in or how well the teams in your conference play but you have plenty of control over the non-con slate.

Today's updated brackets keep the LVs a 3 seed, along with SCAR and Mizzou. We'd play Baylor in the S16, assuming we can win the first two games. If they keep playing well, SCAR and Mizzou seem to have a decent path to the E8.

Caution: don't receive Creme's bracketology as gospel. The committee does not consult him on team placement. If the season ended yesterday, his bracket is not necessarily the script.

IDT anybody views it as more than a point of discussion.

Tennessee as 3 seed is high. Andy landers thought on Ohio state and Tennessee being higher than it appears is SOS.
