New Coach = Orange Pants???

What do you think?

Any other minor changes we might see with a new coach? The power "T" changed back to the "UT"?

Dear God, the pants. NOT THE PANTS!!!

Wasn't the reason we dropped the interlocking UT because Texas sued us over it saying they had it first?

Tennessee retained the rights to use it east of the Miss. River, but I seem to recall them making a marketing decision to be consistent and just use the power T everywhere.

The University of Texas has reached a settlement with the University of Tennessee over the use of the ''UT'' trademark on such items as T-shirts, beer mugs, key chains and customized toilet seats.

Texas said a possible court dispute loomed because Tennessee had applied to the federal government for the right to use the trademark on a number of items not covered under Texas' trademark rights.

Under the agreement between the two schools, Tennessee gets to use the trademark east of the Mississippi River and in Louisiana's West Baton Rouge Parish, home of Southeastern Conference member Louisiana State University.

Texas will own the trademark everywhere else west of the Mississippi.

In addition, the agreement gives the Longhorns and Volunteers limited rights to use the popular interlocking UT logo design in each other's territory during bowl games or other special events.

A staff recommendations to the Texas Board of Regents said the solution was not ideal, but ''it does avoid a costly and protracted administrative and court proceeding.''

I have a pretty good time reminding my TX friends about that.

Registration of a TM allows the TM holder to use it to the exclusion of all others. It's basically prima facie evidence that you're the proper rights holder. However, many unregistered TM's can still be protected by law. The analysis often hinges on who used it first. I think we'd win that one fair and square, at least on the color. Then you'd have the whole issue of whether Texas, even if they used a power T first, was infringing because there could be source confusion and because they were using a color that was substantially similar to one we had used first. The situation poses a number of really interesting questions, and I, for one, would have loved to see it go to trial.:)

Man, I really hope we make some "radical" changes like this. This is what is holding us back, I presume :salute::mf_surrender:

Yeah, I always wonder why fans get so mad about what the team wears. It's football not fahion design. Who actually watches football to see what the team wears?

I diddnt think orange on orange was that bad. I diddnt like the throwback jerzys, the orange and white jerzys and the white pants

I did like the throwbacks, saw those in person that night. Can't speak so much for the orange on orange, wasn't there that day, but they didn't look so great on TV.

I will say the only thing I didn't care for about the throwbacks was that they were essentially an away uniform that we wore at home. I've never been a big fan of teams wearing away uniforms at home. (that's you LSU) Other than that I though they looked great and were a nice change of pace, plus we saw the orange stripes come back on the pants for the first time.

I'd avoid wearing purple jerseys at all cost as well

Remind them if it weren't for a bunch of Volunteers they'd all be speaking Spanish.

My actual line is "If it weren't for Tennessee, we would be standing in North East Mexico right now"

The best response I have gotten is "and how would that be different?"
