Did D.T. have a offer from bama? According to rivals he did.

No. BTW, rivals lists "schools of interest", not offers. Scout does, however. Even the KNS story admits there was "little interest" shown by Bama.

We'll see how he does.

He was offered by Auburn, Ole Miss, Miss St., and USCe, though, so that's not too bad.

I like the fact that we snagged a player our of Alabama that potentially could come back to hurt them. Maybe more of these Alabama kids will want to leave the state to come to UT.

Judging by his video, he has great instincts and is very quick to the ball. Nice pickup, but like Rex said, he could end up at DE.

Decatur is in 5A which is the second best class in the state behind 6A. The kid must be pretty good.

His high school plays my high school every year. My high school is Bob Jones (biggest high school in the state). I have seen him play live three times and I can tell u that he dominates when he is out there.

Quote from Shackleford's coach -

"I give my players the last week of July off before we start two a days so they were off this week. I came to work yesterday at 6:45am and when I pull into the parking lot there is D.T. pulling tires working out. That's the kind of kid he is. He was the only one out here on our off week."

There is so much to be said for work ethic. Even if he isn't the highly touted 5 star recruit, a kid like this can work his arse off and become better than the cocky kid that is on top of the world and feels like he has nothing to work for because the job should already be his.

Also, if you look at his jacket in his rivals profile it says JROTC (Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps). Wow, a star football player with tremendous grades and in a military program in High School with an incredible work ethic (per his coach)!!!

This guy is a diamond in the rough, and if you watch his film, he is one hungry and intense football player. This guy will be a difference maker in a few years IMHO and I'm ecstatic he picked us over MSU, welcome to the Big Orange Family DT!

Everything points to this kid having tremendous character. I'm loving the staff's new approach to finding smart, hard-working kids with good character. Most of our on-field and off-field issues recently have been character related isssues and it doesn't look like this will be a major problem in the near future. Congrats to the coaching staff for the new approach. Even if our classes aren't in the top 5 every year, at least we will have reliable players. Too many of our highly touted recruits in the last few years have not lived up to potential or haven't been reliable. Let's keep getting these talented but somewhat overlooked kids who are hungry and have something to prove and try to mix in some of the highly touted recruits to keep the spotlight on us and the momentum going. Go Vols!!

Well said. I gotta admit I doubted this pick up at first, but the more i hear about him the more i like him. Plus, a guy like him could play in some different spots.

:good!: Spot on. His versatility could make him a valuable defensive asset. He sounds like some of the underrated, over-achievers we've had at LB and DE in the past.

sure, let's not sign the high rated players, that's worked out really well for Vanderbilt. Give me top 5 classes every year even if we have to rioll the dice on some kids with character issues.

Exactly! Don't recruit high rated players. That's exactly what my post said. Let's be like Vandy.

I hate to break this to you, but you take any top ranked kid you can get with a few exceptions. Plus quiite a few of these kids are products og their environment so doesn't it make sense to give them a chance to succeed? Doesn't everyone deserve a chance?
