This is from his summer league team's website. He played with Cubs 2011 draft pick Dillon Maples, who is a stud.

Canes Baseball

Sounding better and better.

Wow. That is one serious roster. I was surprised I hadn't heard of them, but it looks like they began the program my senior year of high school.

I wonder how much Beede played for them. Anyone know?

1.86 is insane that's better than Bryce Harper's. I played against him one year and he had a cannon! so if its similar to his then we got a stud of a catcher!

Almost certain BH could of had a pop time in the 3's and he would've still been taken numero uno.

Whether he makes it to UT or not, what it shows is that the man can recruit. He knows what he is doing, and that can only be good for UT baseball. He is getting serious praise for his efforts already. Kendall Rogers from Perfect Game USA posted 2 tweets last night praising Serrano for the job he is doing here so far.

Dang ... this guy Serrano is GOOD !!!

After last year's disappointment across all athletic fronts (well almost) it sure is GREAT to see the improvements being made today. I haven't felt this good about the future of Tennessee football and baseball in years.

Go Dave, Derek and the Vols !!!

Houser sounds like 2011 Draft Pick Blake Swihart, who is also a switch-hitting catcher and was considered the best prep catcher in the draft. The Red Sox picked him at 26th and signed him for 2.5m.

If Houser is offered a similar deal, I'd say less than 5% he'd go to UT. It'll probably be a deadline deal, but he sounds like a rare talent and teams will pay for that.

I think less than 5% is dead on. His agent will use the college opportunity as a bargaining tool but if the money approaches 1.5 - 3 million I think it is hard to pass up.

I think Nickie D was headed to Georgia up until the final 3-4 hours of the final day to sign. As a sidebar he took pregame bp with the major league team in Baltimore this week.

Maybe a glimmer of hope to keep him. I tweeted Baseball America's High School guy Nathan Rhodes about Houser and comparing him to Swihart. Here's what he said.

@OUCody13 I take that back. Saw him at East Coast Pro. Didn't really stand out. Not a bad player, but not on the same level as Swihart.

So not as elite as Swihart; maybe won't demand such a high bonus. We'll have to follow him closely this spring. If he shows he can really hit, he will shoot up the draft boards.

Honestly just the fact that we are getting guys like this means we will get national pub when the draft comes. I'll really enjoy hearin Gammons and the other guys talking about having to sign him away from UT.

Glad to see CDS doin serious work. He has already picked up more positive media than what's his name did in his entire tenure.

Have to agree. At the least, it shows us how good of a recruiter we have in CDS.

Probably correct about him never making it to campus but you still have to take the chance.

Vandy had one of their big time pitching recruits turn down first round money, big money, to come to school there.

Yeah, I saw that in the "Tennessean" when it happened. I was shocked, and displeased that he did. As you said, there is always hope.
