Actually, yes Art Evans is from Lakeland, Fl.
He went to a private high school there.

With that said, I have no clue what is in the water down there in Lakeland, but they have some talent.

Where is Lakeland? I know it's in Florida but what's it close to?

That's what I was thinking. Rivals has him listed as 6'2 and running a 4.5 40. Where did 6'3 4.4 40 come from?

Daytona Beach (FL), Mainland High School star Antonio Bell has ended speculation and pledged his verbal commitment to the University of Tennessee. The 6’3, 178 lb wide receiver with 4.45 speed called tight end coach Matt Luke at 6:00pm eastern time to share the good news.

Looks like a good pickup. We need to get more football players from Fl.

Here's a link backing up the 6' 3" part but it says he weighs 200 lbs SI.com - NCAA Football - Rivals.com: Irish have solid '08 class, but still lack speedy receivers - Tuesday May 1, 2007 5:50PM

He is ranked like 52 or 53 in the state of Florida, which would be top 10 and maybe top 5 in Tennessee.

Considering we likely won't take more than 2 WRs in this class(Rod Wilkes is the other), taking Bell means we think he is really good.

Well like I said before, at Mainland we have one of the best coaches in Florida.

Also he still has his senior year to make himself better than he is already.

But, he is a playmaker.
And it's likely he can become faster because he runs track which should help him in the long run.

I'm pretty sure there is more than one school in Lakeland. That list only lists hometown's and not schools.

So much has changed in FL. When I played the foozball, the best school in Class 5A or 6A was always from Region 1 or the Panhandle. Pine Forrest, Ft. Walton Beach, Washington, Choctaw, Mosley, Tate, Woodham for a while. We had 5 players from my high school go Div. 1 in '87-'88.

I remember when Pine Forest led Winter Haven 34-0 at halftime of the state final in '88-'89. Those guys won 31 games in a row before they were beat by yours truly's team - The A. Crawford Mosley Dolphins!

Sorry, I just pulled an Al Bundy revisits Polk High football on that one. :birgits_giggle:

Good News: Bell in the Spring game had a 25 yard touchdown catch for Mainland, which was the only TD scored by Mainland.

Bad News: He also fumbled once, and it was stripped by the 400 yard meter state champion.
