I'm new here, but I'll definitely be back. I followed a link here from the voluminous sports blog. I'm a huge UT fan (go figure), though I haven't lived in the area since 1990. I think the last time I travelled through was in 2000. I post at other boards under the same user name.

I lived in Lenoir City and Loudon in 1988 through 1990, before moving to Missouri (I was in 7th grade when I got there, left in 9th). Home is Missouri, though I wish I could convince my wife to move to Tennessee.

While I was there I was introduced to UT football. I'd never seen such devotion to a team or a sport before. It got me interested and eventually hooked.

I'm in the Navy, and have been for 9 years now. I'm an electronics technician by trade. I'm planning on getting out in 289 days, not that I'm counting or anything. I normally work in Great Lakes, IL as an instructor, but I'm currently deployed to a base in Djibouti, Africa. While normally I'm a technician, here I'm a radio operator, over. Somewhere along the lines, wires got crossed and I was sent out here instead of a normal operator. I'll be here until just before Christmas. The last word I heard is that I'll be home for Christmas, but I'm not holding my breath.

I can't wait till football season starts. I'm really excited about our chances this year, question marks about OL, DE, and LB not withstanding. I think we'll end up fine in all areas when the dust settles. I was planning on going to a UT game this season, but obviously the Navy had other plans, so I'm hoping we'll make a bowl game this year that I can travel to after I get back to the States.

Lastly, I'm obligated to make my pitch about volmall.com. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM. Worst experience ever. It took contacting the Better Business Bureau to finally get a resolution. After I contacted them, I found out there are numerous complaints about the company. It was really frustrating, considering we initially spent almost 2000 dollars on stuff there. :banghead:

Take it easy, and GO VOLS!

Welcome.

You won't be disappointed in the passion for the VOLS you find around here. As for being stationed in Africa this fall... thank goodness for the internet, right?

Yesterday was my BDAy, and my family got me a really neat shirt. It read "Road Trip Knoxville" It had a road sign that said Route (Power T)

My son wanted to get me one that had the Coca Cola symbol that read " Choke, The Official Drink Of Alabama Football." My wife was afraid I would get beat up; plus it was in Auburn orange.

Welcome to the board. I, myself, practice in Loudon and am probably the partner of your childhood pediatrician! If so (and you'll probably know if that's the case), PM me and I'll say "hey" to him and catch him up on your whereabouts.

Thanks for your service to our great country. Stay safe, and I hope you make it back before the holidays.

:peace:

Welcome. Thanks for serving. You need to get out to a game.Nothing like it! The chill that runs down your back when the team runs through the power T,on to the field is EXUBERATING! Also if you noticed, Arian's mom post on here periodically. She's our Vol Insider! :biggrin2:

You can say that again. I'm luckier than some. College preview mags hit the street a few days before I left the States. I picked up 4. I nearly went for a 5th.

That's cool. I didn't know that. I was stationed out in San Diego when Arian was being recruited. Well, sort of. I was out there from Nov 2001 to Nov 03, but most of 03 was spent on deployment.

That's okay. :)

I'm at a joint command (CJTF-HOA). I have a A1C (Air Force E-3) working for me. Life is good. I just wish he would quit screwing up. :)

Edit: I still get their ranking mixed up.
