I wouldnt there will already be too much pressure on them anyway

that and plus, they probably want to engrave their own name and number into the history books. instead of following in the shadow of their older brother...which there is nothing wrong but they are separate people.

I don't blame him they only have to wait 1 year. He has earned the right to keep it.
Not to mention it may even be a redshirt year

Can't they use it as long as they plsy on D? Wasn't sure if either know exactly what position they will play. Will be fun to watch.

I'm not excited about Bate's choice of #17

- He actually said it was "for Inky" in an interview shortly after NSD.

- So did a few of the guys

- Dimarya Mixon has 40. Also, maybe Dillon wants to make 17 "his", like Bill made 40 "his". Just a thought.

Maybe we will see Neyland filled with fans wearing the #17 jersey. There should be some old Tee Martin jerseys out there somewhere.

Hmmm, a senior QB wouldn't volunteer to give up his # to an incoming freshman. Wouldn't have seen that come down the pike. Goes back to Peyton not getting #18 from a senior so taking 16.

They honored it but not retired.. They're not doing that anymore

Even though I agree that the players who's numbers were retired were well deserving of such an honor, I hate seeing numbers retired. When you dress over 100 guys on a football Saturday, you are going to have some guys wearing the same number. But before, you didn't have a starter on offense and a starter on defense wearing the same number. And that nonsense reminds me too much of Alabama.

Though I detest the Dallas Cowboys, having a ring of honor around the stadium should suffice. Or did Jerry Jones do away with that?

You do realize that 17 was Dillon's HS number, don't you?
