I thought it would be interesting to see what some match-ups you guys would like to see and the name of the game. It will be a deter to all the negativity and the wildfire of coaching rumors.
I would like to play Texas and call it the "Battle for the T"
I've always thought we should start a rivalry with UNC, both in football and basketball. Which I guess we tried; I would say "Border War" but I think that one is taken.
I heard one of them say that too, that they "loved knoxville". But, here's why I don't think it will end up being a true rivalry. They beat us in our worst year maybe ever...I just don't think they're going to be able to rack up enough wins on us over the next few years to cause a rivalry to happen...like bama and florida. And it won't end up being a vandy-type rivalry (where one team always dominates), because the mizzou-tn game doesn't have any tradition behind.
A bit off subject, but I recall a funny story when I was a student on the Hill. When the Lady Vols played South Carolina, USCe was called the Lady Cocks - maybe they still are!

I know that the focus of your original post was the establishment of potential new rivalries, presumably involving UT. I would like to say, however, that, in our headlong rush toward "super" conferences, we are losing some truly great rivalries, most notably Texas-Texas A & M and one that was perennially one of the preeminent matchups in terms of national implications--Nebraska vs. Oklahoma.
