Tennessee law allows for open containers in the car for passengers. Now the weed different story.

I am not sure what crime one can contemplate while toking? Stealing some doughnuts? I don't know of any crime caused by smoking except looking for more smoke. Smoking dope is not conducive to thinking about anything as serious as crime is it?

I wish everyone thought this way. I think Dave Chappelle said it best, "The only thing pot leads to is a case of the munchies". Sadly, some people just see that it's illegal and that's enough for them to demonize it.

Pot is practically legal in California, anyone can get a medical card and buy it right on main street...they even have vending machines. I do not consider it a drug either, but the south will likely continue to keep its overly-harsh laws on the stuff, and UT should punish accordingly to keep our name out of the legal and national spotlights.

Smoking weed, some open containers---no big deal. All college kids do that.

Tyler Smith old roomate Ramar Smith who previously got in trouble for weapon charges had stolen two of Tyler Smiths weapons and now lives in Nashville and the four went to Nashville to get them back. Supposedly the Serial number was filed off after Tyler Smith reported it stolen. The person this is coming from is a pretty reliable source. He aslo said that no punishments have been finalized as of yet. If this has already been reported my bad Delete thread.

Those guns would have been confiscated if they were involved in that case.

Not that I agree with it but it does seem to be logical explanation. Guess Williams got some toke from R. Smith before leaving Nashville. T. Smith should have unloaded the guns and put them in the trunk if he legally owned them (if there was a police report on the theft and the story is true). If T. Smith was not drinking then also seems logical for a college student (passenger over 21) to have a few. Needless to say none of this is smart by any stretch.

guns and ammo need to be separated, like ammo in trunk guns in passenger compartment to be legal if you dont have a carry permit, did these young adults know this.Or is all this bull?

Who but a lawyer would have memorized all the laws about guns in Tennessee when 23 years old? At 23 I did not have enough blood flow to my head, at least my head sitting on my neck, to think about all the laws. I was only thinking about 1 or 2 things. Unless I had some J , then I ate and giggled and stared at TV and thought of nothing. I hear that dope today can paralyze your muscles and brain even more than the stuff of yore? Interestingly, I never "graduated to stronger drugs". I just switched to Jack because it does not cause weight gain and paralysis when dosed in reasonable quantities.

Lamar Smith is a bum. Wouldn't be surprised if Luke Crews was somehow involved in this as well.

Lamar would never do such a thing!

Sounds like a true Fulmer prodigy.

The hail mary is still suppression from the very competent defense attorney for Tyler.

The Cop claimed to smell MJ, and then brought the dog. How long did the dog take to get on scene? Was the initial "strong odor" a lie? Was it DWB? How can he smell pot when they have no mechanism in the car to smoke pot? Is he going to argue that they had just finished a blunt and threw the end out of the car before they were pulled over?

Everyone keeping their mouth shut was smart, but it cost Tatum getting written up for something he did not do. The beer in the car must have been logged, if it was just an empty bottle of liquor no way they get charged with open container.

If Tyler did not file the serial number but Ramar did and Tyler did report the gun stolen, then I do not think anyone should be kicked off the team.

and if those are the facts, then I think that's the outcome you'll see.

my inside sources from nashville have confirmed that tyler smith and brian williams were both bare chested and covered in orange paint at the time of the arrest. i've double confirmed this with some jewish friends of mine in knoxville... they're pretty sure steven pearl provided the paint. go figure.
