New Scout Rankings Out

who the hell cares about where someone "ranks" a kid who has never set foot on a college campus?? What matters is whether the kid is football smart, coachable, and willing to work hard. Those are the things that winning programs are built on, not whether a kid is 4 or 5 stars. Since coming to this site I have grown sick of all the talk of stars when recruiting. Its OVERRATED period. As i have said before, players in certain parts of the country tend to be rated higher solely based on where they are from, not there ability. as has been stated before on this site by me and others, a 3 star prospect is still a player that has pro potential. Take Fulton this year. He was a 3 star and looks like a budding star on the O-line here. I have worked with 2 kids that were 3 stars and are in the NFL. The point is stop putting so much faith and hope in what the phony experts say about a kids ranking. If Dooley can bring in 3 stars that will stay out of trouble and bust their asses UT will be back at the top soon. Too many programs around the country take that approach and are successful each year. Damn the stars and judge the kid and his fit to the program.

On a different note... The 5'7'' giant, Knoxville's own, gained another star this week. His stats against Hardin Valley are... Car 22-Yds 261- Avg 11.86- Long 88-TD 5. That makes 30 touchdowns on the year. This kid is going to turn some heads next fall. Remember the name Devin Young. It's weird... my team is (3-6)(0-5) and I'm oddly okay with it.

You're ok with it because you know TN is about to drop the boom on people. AL and FL are going backwards. We're going to peak just at the perfect time when they're starting a Freshman qb.

He def wants to play TE, and we will give him a look there first if he comes here... but he projects best as an OT according to most people.

Only time will tell.

I thought he projected best at DT. I don't care where he projected best, I just want him to be a VOL and play where he can help the most.
