New SEC format..what do you think?

Because you really think teams are going to sink to only two out of conference games, should there be a 10 game conference schedule? You think they'll settle for playing one out of division team yearly, or playing other division teams only two to four times per decade?

With either 14 or 16 teams, playing opposite-divisional opponents so rarely will not happen. 9 games is a way to add one more chance to play those other divisional opponents. The only people who are dense are those inventing issues for the sake of whining and *****ing.

Who said anything about 10 conference games? Both of my FICTIONAL examples maintained 8 conference games. Not concerned anyway, because it won't happen. Certainly not for the absolute reasons you still haven't provided.

Bleedorange mentioned 10 games because it made things even. Perhaps you should learn to read the entire thread, as I was addressing a "solution" to the non-existent issue.

It's unfathomable that someone thinks that the number of conference games would stay at 8 with a 14+ team conference. It is a virtual guarantee that the number of conference games would rise- has the number of conference games not increased in the past with the addition of more schools?

If the setup is ever changed to a small handful of super-conferences that have 4 team playoffs and feed their winners into a national playoff, why not just play 10 conference games and eliminate the OOC games altogether? That would address the universities concerns about playing too many games, and would add a little mystique to the playoff matchups much like the World Series used to have before interleague play.

This looks pretty cool...I think it involves getting rid of the divisions and just taking the two top teams each year. This could work.
UT has some difficult rivals to play every year, but it would work.

Florida would want to play LSU every year though.
Everybody hates Florida and wants to play them, LSU, SC, Alabama, etc.
Don't get the Clemson/Miss State rivalry though.
Clemson should play Georgia, and Auburn Miss St.

No they wouldn't. That yearly contest is very recent, and neither considers the other a big rival

Not even close. I've never heard a Bama fan say "I really wish we played Florida every year." The only team that doesn't currently play UF every year that might want to is Auburn, and they had a yearly rivalry with Florida for decades before the 2nd yearly rival game was dropped.

Auburn used to play Clemson fairly frequently in OOC play.

LSU/Florida is a big game for both of them.
It's definitely a rivalry for both of them, especially since LSU matches up well.

I think everyone would like a shot at knocking Florida out of the SEC championsip game. Especially, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, Auburn, Alabama, etc. Those are definitely rivalries and games those teams get up for.
