My wife and I are both about to be eligible for upgrades. I have been using Droids for the past 5-6 years, and she has really only recently "inherited" one of my old smartphones. She thinks she wants an iPhone, but I'm just not so sure. I use a lot of Google services and am really used to
the Android platform. My mom and one of my nurses have the Galaxy 4 and really like it. Any advice is welcome.

(I know there is an old "droid/iPhone" thread, but I don't think it has been updated in a while)

What google services in particular do you use? I still use google maps on my Iphone, but not sure of I use any others outside of that.

If she has tried an iphone and likes it along with iOS, I think you go for the iphone. I have found that you money you save on a droid is not worth it if you like iOS. If she isn't wowed by iOS, then yeah, shop around.

Galaxy S4 is a great device if you like the Android platform.

I phones are easy to use, but I'm not a fan.

Just to give you an idea of the s4 battery life. 12 hours without a charge and I still have 46% life left.

I'm on my 4th iPhone and have been very happy. The fact that it integrates with my other Apple devices is also a plus.

With that said, if screen size is a consideration, I would probably wait until the next model is released. It's believed they will be getting a new, larger size. (some speculate they will have 2 sizes)

Went from the S3 to the Note 3. The S3 worked great and had no issues. It was a great phone. Just got Note 3 and love it. Amazing phone.

I had the S3 after the 4s(after having Droid before that).

Had the S3 a month before I found someone to trade for the iPhone 5.

Both phones are great, I just prefer iOS once I went to it

Gmail, Plus, and Drive. Do purchased apps transferto iOs, or would I have to rebuy them?

The Galaxy S5 is just around the bend. I would hold put for that if you are sticking with Android.

Im an Apple guy and like the way my iphone seemlessly integrates with with my mac, ipad, and AppleTV.

I like my s4 and wife is happy with her note 3. Note 3 has a larger screen.

I had a droid for a couple of years and switched to the iPhone about a year and a half ago. Loved the move. Took a few days to get used to the iPhone but nothing hard or difficult about it.

I was very much against an iPhone until I got one :) iOS is pretty simple

My advice would be to make the switch

I finally sold out to apple. Always had droids. Got my kid an ipad and played with it some so I tried out an old iphone I got from a friend. It took about a week before I went and got a 5s.

Iphone, you won't be sorry.

Son just switched from an iPhone to galaxy and is surprized how much he likes the android over the iOS. Take the teen aged technogeek recommendation and stick with a new droid platform.

Not as common in my experience

Not as common maybe 3-4 years ago. But with the Samsung phones of late you're seeing it more. And with the new s5 coming out soon it's going to happen even more.

Like I said. They're both good devices.

I would also suggest it depends on how much you like to tinker and change apps, just like PC vs Mac.
