I can see stoops feeling like 10 wins is never enough at OU, the fact that we will be thrilled with 10 wins at first, but eventually demand more makes him lower on my list.
Hell we were all pissed if Fulmer lost one.(Just happened to alwAys be the wrong one to lose.)

Stoops has choked away his share of big games over the years. The more I think about it, it's Gruden, Patterson, Peterson, Saban, Meyer, Spurrier, Carroll, a yet-to-be-named sitting NFL head coach who has a winning record, or burn down Neyland and double down on ultimate frisbee.

I think he's headed back to the nfl but you've got to put bill o'brien on this list. What he has done at penn state this year with all their problems has been amazing.

I'm off the Strong and Mullen bandwagon now. Give me Gruden, Gundy, Stoops, Patterson, or Peterson. If not, GTFO.

Fulmer got fired for 2 losing seasons, but the catalyst of change was failure to win any SEC championships. Too many 10 win seasons with nothing to show for it, which would be why He leaves OU in the first place.

Fulmer got fired because the program was obviously trending downward. It wasn't just a failure to win the conference, it was a failure to beat our rivals. Stoops doesn't have those problems at OU.

Outside of Gruden, TN will do extremely well to land Roman. After Notre Dame's win tonight I have seen so many Vol fans piss and moan that we did not hire Kelly, when we had the opportunity. Ironically there are a few names being thrown out there who have that potential to be the next Kelly. Roman, more than the others fits that mold. JMO

1. Yep
2. Won't leave UCLA, not sure he's a 2 either
3. Yep
4. Would put him after Stoops/Gundy
5. ^

And I don't see any circumstance where Petrino is in the SEC this year...

I agree. The whole affair thing is still too fresh in the media. If he was hired this year, the first thing mentioned would be the affair/lies. Bad PR for any university.

I am somewhat okay with anyone but Charlie Strong, Dan Mullen, and Kirby Smart.

Strong lacks the charisma and experience that this program needs right now. Mike MacIntyre at San Jose State is more qualified and better fits our needs than Strong does.

Mullen has not done much of anything other than to coach Tim Tebow. Miss State has plateaued under Mullen and is waiting ion the NCAA to finish business with them.

Kirby Smart has not done anything other than fetch water for Saban. Let him earn his wings somewhere else.

Disagree on Smart , as it is very obvious that Smart is calling the shots on defense for Bama . Do you even watch any Bama games He is also their number one recruiter . While Smart is not at the top of my list to replace Dooley , I am not sure I wouldn't take him over guys such as Strong and mullen

If we don't hire him I hope your right because he's as good of a coach that has been named so far. I promise if we don't give him a look and then have to play him, we will regret it.

No we want......he will end up in Caifornia.......or a small school in the south or big east... Blacked Balled by the SEC Blue balled by an assistant and a wife.....

1. Petrino. I'm ready to win, he's won at Louisville and Arkansas. He'd win here. If he f's up off the field then no buyout at all.

2. Mora jr. He's done amazing at UCLA, he has NFL exp and recruits love that.

t3. Mullen/Strong. I'd be alright with either of them, not as excited as my top 2 though.

5. Don't really have one, Al Golden is Dooley all over again IMO. Rather hire Phil back than Al Golden.

Gruden is not coming, i'm being realistic with my list.

I will root for Bama and Vandy before I would support a Charlie Strong hire.

Why is that? His resume is better than Mike MacIntyre and he has plenty of charisma. His players always love him and he would be a better recruiter than MM.

Charlie may have a better resume but you have to be kidding on the charisma .

You must be. Every article and blog on coaching changes mentions his charisma. He is very charismatic. Players and fans of his teams love him. The only people that think he isn't are the ones mad that he dared to be honest and talk about how he was discriminated against. Google Charkie Strong charisma and all you will get is articles expounding his virtues.

What about Jim Tessel? Yea...he does have some NCCA baggage but is available right away and a pretty impressive record.

I was totally against Al Golden, like who the hell is Al Golden and if we hire him then Im done with UT.
However, I did some research on him to see what the big deal was. This guy is going to be a GREAT coach somewhere. He has the pedigree. He is a great leader, recruiter, and is a no nonsense kind of guy. What he did at Temple which at the time he was an unknown, is a miracle. If he is our next coach I would be proud to have a guy like this at UT

He also has the NCAA looking into his relationship with one of Nevin Shapiros cronies involving benefits to recruits.

That was under Randy Shannons regime. Golden had nothing to do with it. Anyone that kniws anything about Golden knows that he would be the last coach that would be guilty of cheating. It goes against everything he stands for and teaches. You guys can keep your Gruden tinted shades on all you want while we miss out on yet another great coach but I will be realistic with our best options. I was all gruden as well, until I learned all these "sources" have no clue what they are talking about

Mel Tucker Defensive Coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars could help our defensive backs and knows the 3-4 defense well....
