NCAA President Mark Emmert has been Saban's immunity for the last 12 years. In 1999, Emmert was Chancellor of LSU. He hired Saban as coach who "mysteriously" got them back to the top after several losing seasons.

But, Emmert is due to resign as NCAA President effective June '23. The reason is said to be all of the massive changes coming via NIL, etc. I foresee Saban riding off into the sunset after next season realizing that is "immunity" is no longer available.
