In today's print edition of the New York Post, their college football writer, Lenn Robbins, goes for the jugular. He names UT as Flop of the Year and generally ridicules Fulmer and the program. I assume the same article is up at nypost.com. So much for those on this board who don't think a good portion of the national media enjoys portraying Fulmer as a rube.

Doesn't appear to be on the website. For those who might have access to the print edition, it is on Page 72.

For those with thin skin - maybe they should not ready any sports pages until next august??/ We were the big flop this year and who else would you expect them to blame but the HC???

i say - let them get their licks in while they can cuz we won't be down for long.

I agree that UT has to be the biggest upset of the year. Hell, how could we not! But I do not agree that in general people/media think CPF is a bad coach much less a rube. Hell last year they thought he was a master by the way we finished and how the two phenom qb's were handled. It all depends on the year. This was a bad year so he is the goat. But year in and year out he is a very highly respected coach.

we were a "flop"

but what gives him the right

The Constitution. What doesn't give him the right or anyone else the right to say the same thing?

Anyone in the country could make the same comments after seeing us #3 in the preseason rankings and stacked with talent only to see us end with this record. I've seen the same, if not worse, in other publications all over the country.

And Ainge's interception in the endzone at LSU earned a nomination for one of the Top 10 worst plays.

Get used to the bashing. It won't stop for a while. :banghead:

I heard Lou Holtz say the same thing. We went in the tank, but Syracuse might as well have not even fielded a team.

Yeah I get Flogged down here in Dawg country daily. Ill take my crap just as I dish it out most other years. I think we all can say out of all the teams in DivI we were the biggest dissappointment of the season. I don't think we can argue that one. CPF is a good coach who had a bad yr just remember those who ridicule him this yr, cause next yr they won't remember writing it when they are writing the praise articles about how great a coach he is.

yeah, but what was Syracuse expected to do this year? were they a top 5 team? that's why TN is definitely the biggest disappointment of the 05 college year....

Who cares! It's the NY Post, owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., which also owns Fox News and the Fox Network, et al. You know that gang: We're all for 'family values' but we'll put ANYTHING on our networks that draws viewers and thus advertisers and that the FCC will let us get away with.

I think they were expected to be alot better than 1-10 in a piss-poor conference like the Big East. They appeared to have only been competitive in 4 games this season, losing the rest in blow outs. The media picked Syracuse to finish at least 4th in the Big East behind only WVU, Louisville, and Pitt. They dropped from an expected bowl team to a 1-10 team with only a win over Buffalo.

yeah, but finishing 4th in the Big East is a far, far cry from supposed to win the SEC and contend for the NC...that's all i'm saying...i'm sure every teams' expectations were great, before the season....but it's no where is bad for the team expected to finish 4th in the Big East to go 1-10 as it is for the team that supposedly going to win the SEC East to not even go to a bowl? right?

But being down here in Southwest Louisiana - the fact that we did beat LSU actually made this miserable year bearable. If LSU had beat UT and I had to put up with all the crap around here, I might just have had to cry.

Whenever these Tiger fans started bragging about how strong LSU was or how they were the standard for the SEC, I could simply remind them that, unlike Vandy, they lost to TN. Bearable, heck that was almost fun.

We were a flop, Iowa was a flop but straightened out a bit at the end, Purdue was as big a flop as us and Syracuse was a flop, Oklahoma was a flop, etc.

If it happens next year then I'll be concerned.

Oklahoma lost 4 games to teams who only lost 5 games combined. They were also starting a freshman QB and replacing a whole slew of guys now in the NFL. Not sure that's in the same class as UT's complete collapse.
