I disagree that he usually gets knocked out by a lesser team. It seems to me that we usually lose to a “hotter” team. Generally the team we lose to goes on and wins the next game. Purdue and Loyola illustrate what I’m talking about

Michigan and Oregon State. Two teams that were much better than their seeds that we managed to draw in early round games. Nobody but TN, as a #5 seed, could draw a P-5 conference tournament champion in an opening round game.
