Next commitment for 2011?

The last staff really was one of the greatest recruiting staffs ever assembled. The problem is that it had a ton of chemistry issues. Half of the staff was in your face 24/7 and the other half was the exact opposite. Gran left because of it. Chaney was going to leave. Thompson may have had issues as well. I think this staff will gel much better. I still think this staff can land us top 10, and even top 5, classes.

Agreed. We will stay in the top 10. Hopefully, the young guys like Wilcox, Hinshaw, Smith, and Joseph will become big time recruiters. I mean, all great recruiters were young and didn't have much experience at one point or another.

The other staff was great recruiters, but the more i think about it, we were going to get in trouble soon... They do anything to get guys...

I honestly think that guys like Joseph and Wilcox will translate into great recruiters. I think that most of our recruiters will recruit more based on relationships than maybe what they have done, because a lot of our guys are unproven. IMO we land a top 10 to top 12 class with locking up instate prospects, a lot of southeast guys, and a few national guys. A class that is heavy with OL, DL, LB, 1 QB, and maybe one running back but JMO.

This staff will definitely gel better because Dooley possesses much better leadership skills than Kiffin did. Kiffin's staff was an all-star staff, but he himself is not much of an all-star. Too many chiefs, not enough Indians.

As far as next year's class ranking, I think it's tough to predict. We're always gonna get caught up in stars and class ranks, but I want to see the right guys come in this next year. I would love to see a bunch of big boys to add depth to the lines and also want to see some Tennessee boys. This next year would be a great year to "build that fence" that Kiffin talked about but never did.

It is weird starting the whole recruiting process over even as fans. We got so used to the guys from the last class and especially in our case where we were introduced to some many different prospects on this board. I think this board will be more boring with this staff, and a lot of recruiting will be kept in house, but I think you will see results. You will not see what Kiffin and his staff would have done, but it will be good enough, and it will be legal.

I do not know much about anyone in this class yet, but I hope it is AJ, because I have watched his tape and he is a beast. Word is he likes the Vols, and was not just on the list because of the previous staff. The way things are going for us in GA, I think he comes back to the Vols at some point.

Ya I think we've got a good shot at getting AJ in the next couple months.... he really does love it up here, just gotta pray that he and CDD hit it off. I doubt we get any commits anytime soon unless we start to offer some more instate kids.
