Next Commitment

I wouldn't call him bigtime, but we are really close to getting a commitment from Thomas Niles out of Gainesville, GA. He will probably be ranked a 5.6 3* when Rivals does their rankings. He is also former Vol commit AJ Johnson's teammate. I would love to see the package deal with them.

We seem to be working on a few package deals. The Gainesville pair you mentioned, DeAnthony Arnett + Justice Hayes in Michigan, and Ahmad Christian + Andrew Buie in Jacksonville.

Hey man calm down. That was not serious. I saw where someone had already answered your question so I was just having a little fun. Not everything on this message board is serious. Live and Laugh. I meant no offense.

Ok I was just asking a honest question, and most on hear just bash on one another so I thought that's what you were implying. My apologies sir. So just cause he commited to another school I knew that. So you don't think we are still on his radar or vice versa?

This would be remarkable, yet unlikely IMO. I believe we have a better chance with Niles/Johnson and Arnett/Hayes than the Jacksonville pair.

Personally, yes, I still think we are in the running. This guy was commited to UT since his freshman year through all the coaching changes. He said he was still commited when Dooley took over but the attention fell short. With the offensive system that Dooley runs which relies heavily on TE's this kid would get all the tools he needs from UT to prepare for the NFL. I think that if Dooley changes his mind and really pursues him, I think he would come back to us. This kid loves UT and always has, he just needs to feel appreciated by the staff.

Wouldn't count on Clear committing any time soon, by the way. He said recently he was most likely going to wait until after the season.

His coach said this right after UT offered:
“I definitely expect him to make it before the fall season starts,” Gaskin said. “He wants to get the decision and distraction out of the way.”

Cameron said this a few days later:
"I think I am going to wait until the end of the season before I do anything," said Clear. "I want to see how everybody does this season and see how they use the tight end in their offense. I want to see how everybody's offensive schemes are."

Where did this come from?

I gotta feeling we may get a surprise recruit next. Maybe Hayes or Arnett. But most likely Worley or Kerb.

some say he may grow into an OT. Buck thinks he would make an awesome DT. Heck, he could end up staying at TE. He is an athlete. Find his best position when he gets here.

I understood from the last camp he had that he supposedly had very good hands. Is this not true?

If so, why would we not keep him at TE?

GBO!!!!!!!

yes, the staff has raved about his hands. i think we are recruiting him as a TE atm but he may outgrow the position in college.

John Henderson played TE in HS as well... They all called him "baby shaq" and they whooped the crap out of us in the 1998 (I think) state championship game!

That's what I figured, he's seems to be getting a lot more interest now so they gotta start trying to reel him in!
