Guessing #6. They want the PAC market to care about this. We can whine about margin of loss and they can say it was week 1 and they control their destiny to win their conference.
Only if USC beat Oregon in the Pac 12...

Then yeah.

Georgia and Ohio State need to win out and ideally Ohio State beats Michigan soundly. If Michigan beats OSU in a close game, OSU may be given the benefit of the doubt. TCU needs to lose to Texas next week. What will be interesting to see is if a one loss PAC team is awarded a spot above UT? I think the committee would give a conference champion consideration over UT. If so we need Oregon, USC and UCLA to all lose one more game. Our path to the playoff is still very possible if we take care of these next 3 games easily but we need some help. I would love to play Ohio State. Our DBs would have their hands full and we would be underdogs but we could beat them. Amazing that we are where we are regardless. Just can’t blow it against Missouri, South Carolina and Vandy.

If TCU played Bama, Georgia, LSU they would lose them all. Probably would take Florida, Kentucky and Pitt over them too.

This is why I can't wait for the expanded playoffs. We wouldn't be superficiallyranking TCU in the top 12 to get them in. We would keep them just high enough to get in so then they can get slaughtered by some 4th place SEC team

Our best shot at making playoffs is for OSU to remain unbeaten. If Mich beats them, OSU will most likely be the #4 with Mich #2, locking us out.

Look for Oregon to be the sleeper in all this.

I think we will be 5 and Oregon 6. Tcu will be 4. Tcu will lose this coming weekend at Texas and maybe even the weekend after that at baylor. Not sure Oregon will lose. Maybe to usc/ucla in the champ game. Michigan will lose to Ohio state. The acc champ won’t get in over ut. The big thing is ut taking care of business to finish 11-1. There is a probable path to the 3 or 4 seed if we finish 11-1.

Georgia would be one, Michigan would be two and Ohio state three. Ohio state looked awful against a 1 win team, blame the weather or whatever but they looked terrible.

We'll be #4 or #5, but TCU will leapfrog us regardless if they win out. The good news is that TCU has 3 tough games remaining, and Ohio State and Michigan play each other, so if we win out, we're still in good shape now that Clemson lost and Bama got its 2nd loss.
