I know it may be too early to project or too early to think about after winning Natty but throwing it out here.

How many incoming freshman could we lose to the draft? And who is most likely to sign? I know we have two incoming pitchers ( Seibert and Kuhns) that are listed in MLB’s top 100 draft prospects.

Hunter Ensley coming back?

How many guys do we get out of portal to plug and play?

Does AJ Russell play next year?

Here's my way too early projection, only including returnees.

Lineup

C: Cannon Peebles/Stone Lawless/Charlie Taylor
1B: Robin Villeneuve/Blake Grimmer
2B: Bradke Lohry /Hunter High
SS: Ariel Antigua/Camden Bates
3B: Dean Curley/Alex Perry
LF: Colby Backus/Cole Eaton
CF: Hunter Ensley
RF: Reese Chapman/Brayden Sharp
DH: Dalton Bargo

Weekend Starters

Nate Snead-RHP
Marcus Phillips-RHP
AJ Russell-RHP

Bullpen

Derek Schaefer-RHP
Dylan Loy-LHP
Andrew Behnke-LHP
JJ Garcia-RHP
Austin Hunley-RHP
Luke Payne-LHP
Brady Robertson-RHP

Russell is supposed to be back by February, but I wonder how long it'll take him to get up to top form. I don't have the incoming freshmen in there. Not sure who makes it to campus and who goes pro. Some of those infield spots are interchangeable. Also, the JUCO arm Thomas Crabtree should factor in. I think Marcus Phillips will make a big leap.

It'll be interesting to see which players develop, who TV can sign from the portal, and who will make it to campus from the recruiting class. Those things will tell the story.

I could see this being a team that struggles early, then comes together late. There should be talent, but a lot of inexperience.

Well Blake Burke is coming back that is huge. Give it some time see what the roster looks like going to be really good team again.

Something like this, maybe? Only putting so many transfers because I haven’t seen much from anyone else this season, but that’s also not totally fair to say.

C: Transfer or Peebles
1st: Transfer
2nd: Transfer or Incoming Freshman
3rd: Curley
SS: Transfer or Antigua
LF: Transfer
C: Ensley (I think he comes back)
RF: Transfer

Starters: Russell
Bullpen: Snead, Causey, Combs, Loy, Behnke

If TV can get Seibert, Kuhns, Krenzel, and Strickland here, that will be huge for pitching. All those guys throw mid 90s

If he can get Levi Clark here then I’d start him at catcher next year.

AJ Russell just underwent TJ. Unfortunately I fear he won’t pitch for UT again.
Incorrect.

"Russell had successful Tommy John surgery on June 11. It was performed in Knoxville by Tennessee's orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Matthew Rappe, after Russell elected for him to do it so that he wouldn't have to wait six weeks for someone else to conduct it.

The 6-foot-6 right-hander was ready to attack what was to come, and when he woke up following the procedure, he smiled for the first time since he learned he needed the surgery. A full reconstruction of his UCL was needed, but Dr. Rappe was able to repair it with an internal brace, cutting his recovery time from 12-18 months to approximately eight months. He'll be able to pick up a baseball in four."

I knew we were losing a lot of players, but man, when you put it on paper, it's still kind of a shock.

At least 75% of those guys won’t be starting. There’s a few though.

It also depends on transfers, who leaves and who comes

I think the odds of getting Krenzel and Strickland on campus are good. I think the odds of getting Kuhns on campus is low and Seibert very low.

No idea with Clark. He's pretty highly regarded, so good chance he goes pro, but if he makes it to campus, I agree...he should start.

It would be nice to get 2 of Abernathy, Snyder, Marin, and Southisene on campus to address the 2B situation.

Lucas Ramnirez will make it to campus and could very well challenge for a spot.

I still highly doubt it. I definitely doubt him being in the rotation. But hopefully Im wrong! Go Vols.

With Russell’s up in the air status and the draft looming I’d think we need a legit Friday night guy out of the portal plus a middle infielder , first base and a corner outfielder , I know we return talent but not a lot of star power , we need All American type transfers like Tony has done in the portal the last few years

I don't think he'll be in the rotation to start the season. This staff is too cautious with arms. But if he can starting picking up a baseball in 4 months as prescribed, and is considered fully recovered by February, as predicted, he's gonna pitch next year. And with no setbacks, he'll be in the rotation before the postseason.

I think Curley and Chapman will develop into star hitters. But we'll need more than that.

Really want Clark here.

I see he’s around mid 150s on Perfect Game draft and I didn’t see him at all in the top 200 on mlb.com

50/50 hopefully

I do think kids are more likely to make it to campus now than they were even 5 years ago. Part of that is NIL, but part of it is seeing how well colleges are developing and improving kids. Tony can definitely show that. So maybe.
