Well he said TJ which no one recovers in 8 months from. Which is what I was referencing. The brace surgery is a fairly new alternative that doesnt have a long track record at all. I'll believe it when I see it. But it's not time to be a downer, my whole point is I wouldn't count on Russell in the rotation, more of a very pleasant cherry on top if (and when) he hopefully recovers in time. Go Vols!Well. The surgeon who performed the surgery says 8 months. But poster guy on VN says no. Who should I believe?
Yea I have no idea about the rotation yet, so many variables. But I find it hard to believe Loy isn't going to take a leap into one of the spots.I’d get a couple of transfer starting pitchers.
Starters: Transfer, Transfer, one of the bullpen guys
Bullpen/Other guys: Snead, Causey, Combs Loy, Behnke, Phillips, Russell (Reliever next year), Garcia, Strickland (Fr.), Kuhns (Fr.), Krenzel (Fr.) all the freshman guys mentioned throw mid 90s
Yeah I would like to see Bargo or Vill at 1st and the other DH. I think our biggest defensive needs are a 2nd baseman and a big arm for RF.Bargo did fine in the outfield and at 3rd when Amick had surgery , I think he can play first base too if needed , he can really hit when he gets regular at bats so hopefully he’s in the mix somewhere
Are we sure Dreiling is gone? he is young. Seems like I saw a post where Tony was pitching for him to come back? I would never find it again, though.Curley will be an improvement over Amick at 3B. Antigua will be an improvement over Curley at SS. Chapman needs to get better to match what Dreiling was in LF (although Dreiling had to do that between last year and this). Chapman does have a better arm than DD, though.
I wasn't being a jerk or stating I knew better than anyone else. Just gave my opinion from following college and MLB for years. Very rarely is a tear of the UCL going to allow a guy to pitch in 8 months no matter what surgery it is. Apparently this internal brace surgery allows a much quicker recovery. But this operation is fairly new and the track record is miniscule so far. With all that said, I once again hope I'm wrong! The answer is self evident.
