People think because you are a mid-major then that means you don't have talent (or leadership). I think Stoked needs to go back and look at those teams especially the guards.
hmmm id say McRae has been our most consistent player this year.
Those teams had good guard play. Most teams that make it that far have good guard play. UT has average guard play right now.
Yes, no one knows what the draw will be, but to expect a Final 4 when we haven't even made the dance yet and aren't a lock yet is a bit much. Let's make a dance first.
Let me clarify. You are right, he has been more consistent this year. Inconsistency was the name of the game for him over his first two seasons. I want to see him do it dor a full season this year before I expect it from him next year.
Does that make more sense?
Butler had Shelvin Mack and Gordon Hayward and then Matt Howard down low. That's who I know right off the top of my head. I know a lot about Mack I watched a lot of his HS games at Bryan Station in Lexington since they're about 30 min from my home town. Golden can be what Mack was for that team by next year if he gets healthy. Between Hubbs, McRae, and Richardson they can bring what Gordon and the other guards Butler had and Maymon and Stokes is way better than the backcourt they had, which was pretty much just Matt Howard. I don't remember much about VCU and GM though.

If Stokes develops further and becomes a 1st rounder (which right now he isn't), and Hubbs is everything fans expect, you MIGHT be correct. There are several "ifs" there though.
Like I said, matchups our big, if we drew slower guards we'd be ok. Would like to see the staff pursue a JUCO PG. not only for next year, but for the year after that way we'll have an experienced PG and aren't solely relying on a freshman PG.
Exactly. Too much can factor into a final four run that can't be controlled. Also, you have to see how Hubbs game translates first... People need to temper expectations IMOTeams that advance past the Sweet 16 usually have a breakdown guard or someone that can beat his man off the dribble in a close game. How many times did Golden try and do that last year and not succeed? We don't have that. If this team had even a Bobby Maze they'd be so much better. Maze wasn't a good outside shooter but he could beat his guy off the dribble most of the time.
I think putting too much on Hubbs is not going to turn out well. We did it with Hopson. Fortunately, we should have plenty of other options. I just hope this team makes it to the dance to get a taste before next season. Trying to expect them to go to the Final 4 when most of the team has had very little experience in the dance is expecting too much IMO.
Is there any other teams that will have the upperclassman plus a 5 star freshman like we have. I mean seriously? Seniors- Maymon, Golden, and McRae...Juniors- Stokes an Ricardson and then adding Hubbs!!! Maymon and Richardson are both going to be the teams leaders.
