4 out of 7 are from Memphis, historically not good but I am optimistic

The Difference is dooley is not unaccostomed to that area. I think he probably has some ties in memphis. If he can`t make an impact in UT recruiting memphis we will probably never be able to recruit that area.

That's good to know. Larry porter got some national press for the job he's doing at tiger high in the short time he's been there. Tenn still has huge edge in quality of program, but considering we are fighting Alabama, uga, etc already, it's one more challenge. As many oline and dts as we need(and we desperately need centers), getting the two instate oline and dt would be tremendous advantages. IMO raiding north ga and Atlanta may be more of a focus than locking down Memphis just because it may be more likely. Not saying memphis is not important, maybe just not as realistic. Be happy when chuck smith, cdd, and lance prove me wrong.

I would love to see UT lock-up Tennessee's borders and take the best in-state talent. Then gain, Georgia and North/South Carolina might as well be considered in-state.

All that list tells me is Bama will have another good year.

Memphis is its own state and we would be better served looking over the top kids in Georgia than we would be looking at Memphis kids.

We may not get all the kids there, but we get our share. To say we should give up is silly. Think of all the players we've gotten there. I don't know Jack about Memphis and I can think of five or six off the top of my head.

One thing that could hurt us and help out Memphis is if Pitt does indeed go to the big 10 then Memphis might be the Big Easts 1st choice. I'm sure prospects out their would be more willing to go to Memphis if it was in a BCS conference

I'm from Memphis and I can tell you that if there is anywhere in the state that produces some measure of talent it's there. I think that's one reason why Darin Hinshaw was hired...Kiffin gave lip service to wrapping a fence around Memphis but ultimately couldn't sway Marlon Brown...Hinshaw will be the guy to look too for this area...

I would imagine CDD's influence in Georgia is what will get us through next year, because the fact that he is behind the 8 ball on next years class will definitely hurt him in Memphis imo. Hopefully we put the full court press on Washington and Richardson. We will probably only take 1 RB next year, but I certainly wouldn't mind seeing them take Gibson. DT obviously the glaring weakness and I wouldn't be surprised to see them take 4 or 5 DT's alone.

Because there are like 3 coaches in this entire half of the state that know what the hell they are doing.

I agree, the kids just don't get developed. A lot of the good coaches are at smaller schools in East Tennessee.

Given what we've heard from the Stone family in their opinion of X and the Orangutan what Brown's hints, X and Orangutan were the reason we did not land Brown and would not have landed Stone. We claimed Stone was lower on our board but the likely truth is that they told X and Orangutan politely to go pound sand.

Now that it's all over and done, I'm happy those clowns are gone.

Think Miami(Ohio), Temple , East Carolina, Marshall all would be a more attracrive choice than Memphis. JMO..

The only thing east about Memphis is that it is 100 yards east of the Miss. River...

I think DD will lock up what slim in state talent we have and will blow up the recruiting trail next year in the state of GA
