Once we return to winning, I hope they add a 3rd deck opposite from the Jumbotron and in the corners surrounding it. Many stadiums have a 3rd row, including the Titan's stadium.
That should put us back on top again, as the nation's largest.
Not to sh*t on your dreams bro but we barely fill the place as is unless we're playing an SEC team at home. Bigger and bigger stadiums are on the way out - the money just isn't there anymore with the new age of monster TV deals on the way. I can't really say I blame them. I love being in Neyland, but I live in Middle TN and between gas, tickets, tailgate booze, food, etc. that's a $200 weekend for me. Or I could just sit on my couch at home, spend $20 on beer and get to drink it during the game. Stadiums are going towards smaller numbers with more amenities - it's just the way things are going.
Didn't the Cowboys finish building a new stadium in the last couple of years that holds like 150,000 or some crazy figure like that? I think they use it for a lot of major events though, not just football. Personally I can't believe that many people would ever want to go to a Dallas game, but then again I would totally understand it if that many people wanted to go to a UT game so I am obviously biased. Lol

Nothing good has ever come out of NJ.
Neyland is still in need of major improvements.
I question some of the decisions UT has made regarding building. They just built a new building adjacent to Neyland on Neyland drive. Now, I can understand, if they are going to tear down Estabrook hall. There is no green space around Neyland, and they should have condemned Estabrook, the speech building across the street, and never have pumped money into Alumni gym. They also need to level the parking lot across the street behind the education school while all this other US construction is underway.
There were just some horrible decisions made.
The new building on Neyland that you are referencing is phase one of the Tickle engineering building. The plan is to after this season knock down Estabrook (kind of a shame since it is the 2nd oldest building on campus, but I understand it needs to go), Pasqua Nuclear Engineering building, and the civil engineering annex next to west skyboxes. They will then build the add on to the Tickle complex and the rest of the area is supposed to be lightened up for gameday and recreational use. Combine this with the renovations to the area around the Student Center and the Neyland "area" will be real nice.
On another note, there is also substantial changes coming to west campus as I think UT recently decided to basically knock down presidential court, morrill, andy holt, and shelbourne to start over from scratch with that student housing. Campus is about to be radically different.
Great news. I couldn't find any info on the UT site. The new building on Neyland that you are referencing is phase one of the Tickle engineering building. "The university updated its plans after consultants helped take a closer look at its goals and plans for extensive renovations to South Carrick, North Carrick, Humes, Reese, Morrill, and the Apartment Residence halls. Consultants determined that it is more cost-effective to build new buildings than to renovate existing halls."
