Neyland Stadium and Kyle Field

If I were an Aggie fan I would be totally against that large of an expansion. If you guys had trouble selling out this year, just imagine 30,000 empty seats.

Well, A&M was selling out just fine after the late 90's expansion from about 72,000 to 82,600. Our average attendance in 2001 was 82,700. However this outrageous price increase and the controversial firing of R.C. Slocum has put a dent in the crowd just a bit. I predict next year we will break all existing attendance records for Kyle Field. Anyway, that masive expansion proposal is for about 15-20 years from now. I'm sure Kyle will be busting at the seams by then, especially if they haven't added a real south endzone.

Can only do one at a time

Here's the view from the river - the famed Vol Navy - great tailgating on the river.

Another

For our Aggie friends, this is looking from the "Hill", the original part of campus. This photo is pre-expansion (where the upper deck was filled in). You could watch the game from some of the buildings

I think they may add a few more seats, but nothing significant.

volinbham- those pics make me long for the old days of UT football, before this commercialized, watered down, corporate crap we have to waid through.

If you're talking about Neyland then no, it will actually lose around 3k seats.

I wish I could find a picture of our stadium with our old horseshoe, it looked a bit like Neyland before the final expansion.

Actually, the one he labeled finally isn't the end... skyboxes have been added opposite the pressbox since then, as well as one of the larger jumbotrons in the country...

Has anyone seen the screen they put in Philadelphia's new stadium?!?! All I can say is WOW.

Hey Ag '83, thanks for the pics, I tried looking for them on AggieAthletics.com but couldn't find'em. Just one correction though; the Red, White and Blue Out was Sept. 22nd, 2001. Gig'em

Yeah, the first pic I posted was from the late 80's I guess, when we still had Astro-turf and with that helmet on the 50 yard line. I was watching a late-80's t.u. game a few weeks back on ESPN Classic and the helmet looked horrible, faded paint..., oh it was bad. In real life, I thought it looked cool though...

Just for correction, the "Finally" meant that I was through posting pictures not that it was the latest incarnation. Of course then I found one more that I thought deserved posting. As a result, I contradicted my own "finally" :D

Is Kyle Field grass or artificial turf?

Also, who is Kyle Field named after?

I love playing there on the PS2 NCAA 2004 game.
