The NFL Draft is my favorite non-game sporting event. It's amazing and I love discussing prospects and team needs. We'll start a new thread for the actual draft when we get there.

The combine is coming up, so draft stocks are going to change significantly.

Let's start RB.

I think Leshoure from Illinois is going to be a great pro. NFLDraftScout has him as the #2 back.

I think Shane Vereen from Cal is the sleeper of the class.

Discuss all NFL Draft thoughts here! :)

Titus Young is going to be non-existent once he's drafted.

Marcel Dareus is going to be a better pro player than Nick Fairley

I'm truly torn on who I want to see the Panthers draft at #1. While a QB is sorely needed in Charlotte, I'm just not sure any in the current class are going to pan out and the only one that might be worth the risk would be Cam.

I'm not so sure. Fairely and Dareus are just 2 different kind of players with different skill sets. For Dareus think Kevin Williams. Big, strong, uses his hands well and quicker than you would think for a guy his size. But he will probably never be a guy with double digit sacks. But he is a smart player who does not get out of position and does what he is suppose to do. He is what some guys call a low ceiling high floor guy. He might not get alot better than what he is now but he is not going to be just a rotation guy. He will be a solid starter and could make a pro bowl or 2.
Fairely is just a big Warren Sapp. He plays exactly like him. Just go straight upfield as fast and hard as he can every play. You can draw him, trap him, use misdirection on him and confuse him and take him out of alot of plays. But at the same time he is going to blow alot of plays up in the backfield and make 1 or 2 plays a game that not alot of defensive linemen can make. And he could have a few years where he has double digit sack seasons. That's alot for a tackle.
Depends on which type of a player you're looking for.

Lack of sack potential doesn't make a DT a low-ceiling guy. Hell, even Haynesworth has never had 10 sacks, and I don't think Fairley will either.

none of them are really worth the pick either. When a team picks #1, they really pick more so best available than need

Fairley isn't worth the #1 overall pick

I'd be happy for home town reasons if the Titans drafted Cobb in the second round. Idk if really he meets our needs but it would be nice lol.

I'd love to have Cobb on the Falcons, he'd fill the role Harry Douglas was meant for pre-injury. Although I'd be somewhat surprised to see Cobb run faster than the high 4.4s, jmo.

FWIW, many expect Jernigan to run in the low to mid 4.3s.

Honestly, the more I think about it and look at the film, I wouldn't mind AJ Green or Patrick Peterson at #1. The Panthers have no true receiving threat besides Steve Smith and a #2 corner and punt returner as talented as Peterson would be nice to have.

I'm also hoping Cobb is somewhere in that 3-5 range so the Panthers can get a shot at him. Would love to see him in some wildcat formations, as well as in the slot.

The Broncos need a DT because I'm not sure what to do with Dumerville and Ayers. I would assume both would be best at DE in a 4-3. Therefore, I guess I expect Fairley :)sick:). This draft kind of sucks at the top with the exception of corner. But a corner is useless without pressure from the D-Front.

I hope Fairley can blow by NFL'ers like he did college kids....but I doubt it.
