In what game did any our O-line appear NFL ready?
NFL scouts could care less about how good the player has actually preformed in college. Instead, it just becomes the intangibles. How much they can bench, what their shuffle time/40 is. It's just crazy if you ask me. It's why a guy like Chris hannon gets drafted (in the third round I believe) while guys who started ahead of him and we're the better players, never got a chance. To me, if a kid plays in the sec against elite competition, you don't even need to test their intangibles. Just go watch film. If they did... They'd tell Richardson to return. He was terrible this year. And not just at blocking. How many false starts did he have? It had to be some kind of record didn't it. Hes just not a great player. But it doesn't matter. He'll be drafted ahead of tons of better players because he can jump 1inch higher or has a 2inch larger wingspan. Crazy!
Where is your outrage for people saying AJ isn't ready?
AJ is one player....and whether he is or isn't....he is a VFL and I hope he has an awesome career in the NFL. But you said the whole O-Line....implying all of them.....including the seniors. If you don't see their obvious God given physical gifts on an individual level the way a scout would then there is no hope for you.
He's about as good a run stopper as you'll ever see. I mean, 320 tackles in 3 seasons is nothing to be taken for granted. But you're right, he has struggled in space (like the Oregon and Auburn games). But his best games come against pro-style offenses, which is what he'll be facing each week in the NFL.He's not going to get any faster so his draft stock isn't going to be much faster next year. He's too slow side to side and a liability in coverage to make an impact at the next level.
This doesn't mean I don't respect the hell out of what he's done for UT and I hope he returns and dominates for his senior year.
