NFL Scouts Consensus: A.J. Not Ready Yet

AJ is one player....and whether he is or isn't....he is a VFL and I hope he has an awesome career in the NFL. But you said the whole O-Line....implying all of them.....including the seniors. If you don't see their obvious God given physical gifts on an individual level the way a scout would then there is no hope for you.

Dude our OL was a bunch of teddy bears. It was fairly obvious they barely ever got push in the run game.

Good for them. I hope they all do well and make a lot of money, but the whole time they've been here we haven't had a running game because they didn'thave the mentality that they wanted to run the ball

He's not going to get any faster so his draft stock isn't going to be much faster next year. He's too slow side to side and a liability in coverage to make an impact at the next level.

Kevin Simon ran like a 5.00 40 at his pro day. He still got drafted. He played faster because he understood angles and anticipated what was happening and had quicker reactions. All of that is coachable. While, AJ is never going to be a fast player and his upside will always be limited, he can certainly make himself more of a reliable playmaker (Like those times he had the QB in his arms in the backfield and failed to wrap up, he could probably help himself if he shows he can actually make those plays) and more desirable to an NFL team.

If you honestly dont believe this entire offensive line didn't under perform this past season then there's no hope for you. There's a ton of college athlete that have talent and intangibles but that doesn't mean they're NFL ready. And critiquing Vol football players doesn't mean you don't support the player. Also, they could be an undrafted FA and still make 10x more than most of us so that was a dumb statement!

Instead, it just becomes the intangibles. How much they can bench, what their shuffle time/40 is. It's just crazy if you ask me.

I agree with what you're saying, but everything you just listed is tangible. Intangible would be "has a nose for the football" or "has good instincts".

I hope AJ stays for his senior season for a couple of reasons, 1st is his graduation and the 2nd to see him play with a defense that has more talent than in the past..CM will help AJ play..

I also think we could see a little nasty from our O-Line this year..lov our 117 O-Line but 118 will have a bit of nasty to them...and a stud backfield.

AJ might not be ready, but he will get drafted eventually. I'd love for him to return and be a leader on this team.
