they changed lots of rules to make it more appealing and watchable.
which it still isnt.

preds are good though.

nhl is too watchable.. its tons more interesting to watch than about half the sports shown on tv

True story... I found myself watching curling today on ESPN2 during a commercial of the race... I still don't know what curling is or what the objective is, but it still peaked my interest more than hockey ever has.

For me, hockey is fun in person, but it's very difficult for the casual fan to watch on TV. It's just so fast that it's hard to follow on a TV screen.

there is no way that the NHL is more boring than curling. in curling, guys just try to hit stones with other stones. that is retarded

For me it is much like NASCAR in that once you go to a live event, it is much more interesting on TV. It also helps to watch it in High Def (because you can actually see the puck).

thanks to my brother I became interested in hockey, he moved to Pittsburgh after graduating from college and became a season ticket holder for the pens, when I would visit him he made me watch hockey games and taught me all about it. I went to a few pens games and I have to say it truly is the coolest game on ice, though the pens suck this year and have for some time doesn't make the people here in the burgh too happy.

I have yet to meet, in my entire life, someone who got into hockey later in life. The only people who can bear to watch it on tv are people who grew up playing it or at least lived in northern towns where it was a big deal.

IMHO, they must change two things to get people to watch it on tv. First, they must make the puck more visible on television. That might be done graphically, like they did when they showed the streak a couple of years back. The other thing they have to do is make the net bigger so that there is more scoring. I'd say widen it by at least 18 inches on either side and make it taller by about a foot.
