I addressed this, but you didn't respond.
He wants to honor the visit to auburn, and he wants to announce on ESPNU...if he does a spur of the moment committment he can't do that. Also, his family has said in the past no emotional decisions will be made, meaning probably not committing on a visit.
Yes, I understand. But things look a little different in his recruitment now than they did 3 weeks or so ago.
3 weeks ago, Hubbs committment to the Vols was still news, and the way Austin had set his visits up, UT was going to be last, followed by an announcement the next week. That all lined up perfectly well with the belief that UT had him pretty mcuh sewn up. He'd be there last, and being the last visit is HUGE in recruiting. It made sense that he would schedule UT last if he already knew he was going to commit there. That way, he'd have been on all other visits, and could let the staff know to expect his commitment the next week.
But 2 weeks ago he changed his schedule around. He fit Memphis in, when there was a thought previously that Memphis didn't interest him in the slightest. More importantly, he bumped his Auburn visit to after UT. UT lost the coveted spot of "last visit". Plus, now there's statements out there by Papa Nichols that UT isn't the best fit for his son, in his mind. The totality of the circumstances makes me think that Austin is not as locked up as I once thought.
I'm also reminded by the commitments of Coleby and J3 lately that even the insiders sometimes have no idea what a kid is thinking right before he commits.
I'm interested, to say the least.
If there isn't a verbal this weekend, I think that means that it's more wide open than people think (me included). I'm half-expecting him to commit before he leaves Knoxville. If he doesn't, it means UT doesn't have him as locked up as once believed.
plural faithful or faithfuls: one who is faithful; especially: a loyal follower, member, or fan
<party faithfuls>
Sounds exactly like BTO's faithful followers!

I think getting Nichols would be much bigger (in terms of recruiting Memphis) than Stokes was.
Nichols is headed to Gainsville, so the Vols will get to see him a few times per season at least.
