Nick Saban Retiring - CONFIRMED

1. Really thought Nick would hold on three more years in an attempt to pass Bryant's all time wins (Bryant was 323 wins lifetime, 232 at Bama ... Saban sits at 292 wins lifetime, 201 at Bama). Perhaps he realized he just doesn't have three more seasons in him, or family matters took precedence.

2. Saban doesn't have the highest winning percentage in college football history, at .803, that record is for fellas like Larry Kehres at Mount Union (an incredible .929), or staying in the FBS, Knute Rockne at Notre Dame (.881). But Saban's 7 national titles are a record. Giving him at least one angle on a claim to be the greatest college coach of all time.

3. Glad that midget dwarf bastard's gone.

4. Heh.

5. Still, hat's off to the man. Helluva coach. Great accomplishments. Just wish he'd done it anywhere else in the country other than Bama.

Go Vols!

Pete Carroll too. While he is older than Saban, he's in great shape and loved coaching in college. He probably won't want to fack with portal BS
Pete Carroll would be great. At least you could respect Saban. Carroll is the complete douchenozzle package. He would elevate Gump hate to a whole new level

A little surprised. The NIL prob drove the car over the cliff. Dan Lanning prob on deck. Bama will still be really good either way. BUT....whoever takes over ....will prob be in the "well Coach Saban would NEVER have done that. He would have won that game yada yada yada"....I've seen all kinds of replacements of legend (football, baseball, basketball, pastors, CEO etc) and almost never does it end well. This could be a first IDK....

Here’s my thoughts on potential coaches:
Vrabel
Sark
Dabo
Franklin
And I think Heupel definitely gets a call
Promotion from within

Saban is the goat, no question. But NIL leveled the playing field when it came to paying players. He took advantage of the time he was in and when the times changed and he didn’t want to change, he decided to hang it up. He was smart to get out when he did, ending with a playoff run.
If his level of success was due to chronic cheating and he got out because the playing field got leveled, is he really the GOAT? Food for thought.
