Nico’s short time in the game

The few snaps he got today made me feel pretty good. He looked really comfortable out there and sidestepped the rush quite a bit. I know it’s game 1 and Virginia, but his actions on the field made him look like he’s been doing it for years at the collegiate level. He’s gonna be really good.

He looked very comfortable. I was most impressed when he stepped up in the pocket. That's one area he needed to work on as he likes to roll out alot. He will be very dangerous once it is his time. He is very elusive and a dangerous threat as a runner. A year in the program with some experience to improve his consistency as a passer and he could be special.

I will fully admit that I had high hopes for HB.

I will also fully admit that those hopes were unfounded.

He sucks. I'm sure he's a good kid blah blah blah, but he's not a legitimate P5 or even G5 QB. May he have a long and successful career at whatever he actually ends up doing for a living, but it's not gonna be a QB.

He needs to gain weight, but he looked the part.

It felt like the early 90s. We were good. But during the blowouts, you could see that the younger backups were even more talented than the upper class starters. Heupel could be building a powerhouse. It’s nice to finally be excited again.

Of course, we all thought Bailey would be great. His rating was borderline 5 stars.
No one is an idiot for compensating when it didn't immediately come together for him. You just make allowances that he will catch up with the speed of the game and his arm isn't weak.

It just never happened for any of our QBs from 2017-2020.

I think it was good to let him into the game and get some reps. You never know when he might be called on to finish a game. You only get better with experience and I like what I saw today from him.

Agreed. I thought he looked smooth and could feel the presence of the defense without having to look them right in the eyes to see they're coming. He actually reminded me of (oh God I'm sorry) Bryce Young. He'll be amazing.

it was an electric moment in the second half. The crowd was READY to see Nico take his first snap as a volunteer. Exciting moment.

His pocket awareness for a freshman is insane. He seems to know when to step up, when to take off.. has a very strong arm. I know it’s just a few plays, but the kid seems to have to tools to be really special. Like generational special

I saw that as well. Very composed, stepped up on pocket, was accurate on the balls he threw as well.

Nico is indeed a cool customer with amazing skills. Joe Milton exhibited that rocket arm & also was among the first to congratulate Nico after his touchdown drive. Reminded me of when Hendon Hooker did the same for Milton last season. The synergy is REAL.
