Nico and OL

Nico won’t be needed 4 years from now. If he’s as good as advertised, he’ll go pro early. If not, he’ll likely be recruited over.

I think CJH was just showing Milton some loyalty this year.
For some reason people forget that ALL players had an eye on how he handled this. Heup never wavered on his commitment to Milton. That goes a very long way in other guys eyes and not just the guys you already have. The only way Milton was getting benched is if he got hurt and Nico got hot, or of Milton lost one of the cupcake games.

Yup, it’s a new world in college football right now and you better believe players pay attention to that sort of thing. Loyalty and the keeping of promises go a long way to these young men

Yep. Screw up team chemistry and the ship sinks quickly.

Nico could have played more if the offensive and defensive did their job in those we should’ve stomped them in the first half games.
I hope we can have an SEC caliber OL and build some depth behind that. Otherwise Nico could be running for his life--not good. Plus that increases his chances of injury. Aside from his running ability his skill at getting the ball out quickly will help slow that defensive blitz too, if they know they can't get to him quick enough. Guess we'll find out next season.

I think he's redshirting him because
A) He ended up not needing Nico to play more than 4 games.
B) He's eligible for a redshirt
C) Nobody knows if he will need 5 years to play 4. Maybe he's not as good as VN thinks he is. Is anybody ever as good as VN thinks they should be? If he does live up to the Heup, he won't need an extra year of eligibility. If he's not, then he might.

It's really that simple iyam.
I was disappointed that Nico did not lead one scoring drive against Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt.

I thought he would do good.
And that didnt temper your enthusiasm for unproven freshman qbs at all?

Based in high school film I think Nico is miles ahead of HB at the same point. However, until i see him against a quality opponent, i will reserve judgement and assume the coaches know more about who should play than i do.

Yeah, that’s a tough pill to swallow. Campbell missed a fg so should have been 3 there.

I thought he looked good and made a few nice throws. I think its always going to be challenging to get into a rhythm at the end of a game that’s basically over already like that but yeah I also would have loved to see him throw for a td or two.

True, I'd completely forgotten about it tbh
Nobody really talks about that, but he definitely got dinged early on and that may have changed the plan.
They never show or talk about Superman or Batman or any other Super Heroes injuries always down played, on with the season & saving all humanity Volnation.

There's something to be said about loyalty, however if coach " the QB whisperer" thought Nico could get him 10/11 wins he would have played him.

You have to trust his system and let it play out.
Maybe the QB whisperer thought Milton could get him to 10 wins based off what he saw against Clemson's defense in the bowl game. If they don't lay an egg at UF and Mizzou this isn't even a topic. Both losses were a total team effort and we probably still lose no matter who was at QB because we couldn't stop a nose bleed against either.

This is fact and I'm witnessing it first hand. I got 3 guys that I coached since they were 7yrs old. All 3 are 4 stars in 2025. All 3 have offers from pretty much everyone. When I talk to them about the recruiting process it's always about what coach is being honest with them.

Nico has already looked 100 times better than Bailey ever looked.

Nico even showed he is strong and ran through a Tackle to get a first down.
According to some HB balled out each time he saw the field. Some were so upset that he left without getting to starr, the pledged to follow whatever team he went to.

🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

I do agree with you that Nico looks good in the limited action we have seen him get to play. However, that does not mean he is the next great qb.
