The best solution is that Heupel coaches him up so that he's a football phenomenon and one only has to say "Nico" in a football conversation and everyone knows who you're talking about.

Is his last name Samoan in origin?

Just trying to think of nick names like Throwing Samoan or something like that.

It would most likely sell a lot of T-shirts.
I like it...The Throwin' Samoan. Probably would be considered offensive these days.

EE ah ma lay AH vah

(the all-caps syllables are emphasized--Tennessee football got the emphasis wrong in their tweet)

EE -- as in "tree"
ah -- the way you say "bah bah black sheep"
ma -- just like "hey ma, have you seen Lassie?"
lay -- sing the song "lay down Sally" ... yep, like that
AH -- same as before, but now emphasized
vah -- "vah vah vah voom"

Simple.

I--a--ma--le--a--va

Side note: it is very unusual in most languages to get six syllables out of only nine letters. I think the Polynesian languages may be fairly unique in that regard.

It’s really not lol. It’s a heck of a lot easier than Tua Tagavaialoa or DJ Uiagalelei. They all get easier once you get it through your head to stop blending vowels and just pronounce all the letters.

Right!!! That's why for me I just simplified it to.

Ee-ah-molly-ahvuh

Say it all together, pretty easy.
