Nico is looking like a CHAMPIONSHIP QB right now...

After starting 12 games this season Nico is no longer a freshman. He’s a sophomore at least.

You gotta love volnation. One game, folks are wanting to bench Nico and the very next, he's a "championship quarterback." I do believe he has turned a corner, and the passing game is finally becoming a threat. It seems to me that the turning point was the second half of the Alabama game. Also, I believe the pass protection has improved. In fact, against Vandy, he was barely touched.

I agree with this post. Not to bring up a negative, but I’m just curious as to what happened on the interception. He had a wide-open touchdown and threw it way short and inside. The announcers were convinced it was an under throw, but I just don’t see him under throwing it that badly. He must’ve thought that the receiver was gonna slant in, correct?

I think Nico has turned a corner. Ever since the start of the Georgia game he's looked like a different player. He looks like a championship QB. We're a team no longer carrying an inexperienced QB to victory. He's now carrying us offensively. If Nico continues to play at this level we can beat anybody.

Now we just need to get healthy.
When you're facing a 3 man rush that has no shot of getting home, it's gonna make most every QB look good....and the WRs as well.

May have mentioned this somewhere else but it was so far off, I can only assume it slipped out of his hand. He's not used to playing in cold weather, so that's kind of where my mind went watching it live.

.

That’s interesting, but we’re not talking about that, since Vandy didn’t rush 3 for most of the game. They often rushed 4 and occasionally blitzed, but rarely if ever rushed just 3. They did so on 3rd and very long yardage (as many teams do). And they lined up with 3 down often, then brought a 4th or 5th. But rarely did they just rush 3.

Also, 8 men in coverage doesn’t make the WRs look good. It makes it harder to get open. Unless you’re claiming that Vandy rushed 3, dropped 4, and had the other 4 studying bio chemistry.

Nico has overcome a lot of adversity this season and come back every time with a vengeance. This is a sign of a QB growing before our eyes. I'm expecting massive things out of him next year and to be a high draft pick when it is his time to go to the NFL.

I liked Nico's attitude after the td to Kitselman. Nothing wrong with a little aggression from a leader.

Me as well. I appreciate his calm demeanor, but I did like to see a little bit of an edge from him as well.

Hopefully that shows the oline has improved. Vandy’s d also has been known all year to not give up big plays consistently especially in the secondary so that’s a positive that we had big plays over and over and did pretty much whatever we wanted.

Definitely. We can't say "it's only Vanderbilt" this year. Their defense is just as good if not better than some of the teams that gave us issues earlier in the year.

Looked to me like he thought the receiver was going to break in towards the post, not keep running down the sideline.

Will be extremely happy if you turn out to be correct but I'm not convinced yet.

He even hand motioned to him what looked like a "I thought you were gonna cut".
Now, idk who was actually wrong.

I knew this was your post before reading your name. You are an absolutely the biggest sunshine pumper on the planet. I hope you are correct about Nico .

2nd half of Bama is when he turned the corner

Agreed but to be fair and honest, alot of what was called were not actually penalties
You must mean the Campbell penalty. Clearly that should not have been called. Seriously, which penalties? I thought it was a pretty cleanly called game by the officials, unlike the Vol-Georgia game.

With all the shade thrown at him by some people, I'm pretty sure he has set every single season freshman passing record at Tenn including completions, attempts, yards, TDs, etc.

And he's also 11-2 as a starter and led the team to the playoff in his first season. I think he's doing alright.
Well dang, since you put it that way I completely agree with you!! :p

Need to win it all this year! Next year may be impossible since we lost that one safety to Florida. No help on the backend means 70 points for everybody with a quarterback. Woe is us.

I think it was what you mentioned, or the ball slipped out of his hand a bit.

Nico looks like a championship QB when the opponents don't bring pressure.
