Niki Caldwell would make a great Vol Coach one day

I think that is why she is at LSU right now. To gain the SEC HC experience needed. She has the creditials to be here and it would be the right move. Think that Pat is here as long as she can be. Pray that she gets her 40 years and 1150+ wins. She deserves it. Niki Caldwell should be the future choice for this program.

That is exactly what I thought when she took the job at LSU.

I think a job offer is all it would take honestly. And I agree that the 2 names to seriously consider are Nikki and Matthew Mitchell from UK.

Agreed. I would take Mitchell over Caldwell. But would be happy with either.

It NEEDS to be Niki Caldwell. Do not promote from the staff of assistances. Niki is a proven head coach, played and coached for Pat. She has what it takes and knows how to get the fire out of her team, just like Pat!!!! Sorry if this offends but I think her being attractive would help in recruiting!!!!!!!!!!! lol!!

No one on staff is worthy of leading this team. It's painfully obvious. Niki would be an excellent choice the more I think about it.

UT grad, won a national championship for Pat, excellent coaching record at UCLA, doing great job at LSU, shows nothing but love and respect for Pat. I'd seriously consider her when Pat decides to retire or step down as head coach but possibly stays with team in some capacity.

I sure hope it is Niki Caldwell and not Holly.

Mulkey really isn't a bad choice. Won a NC, has that same fire Pat always had, knows how to be successful.

Money isn't a problem when you have the facilities, resources, and support of LV fans...

It will be whoever Pat says it is. I cant see Pat leaving knowing her staff is jobless. I like the idea of Caldwell and Tasha Butts mixed with some of our current assistants, but I'd be willing to bet its gonna be Holly.

Gino. You get the best coach available, and gut UCONN at the same time. Win-win.

Plan B would be Kim Mulkey.

Nikki delivered her new son yesterday. Both are doing well. Congrats!

People say in this thread that the TN job is THE job in womens basketball and that's why they must go after a big name like Mulkey, but I think because it's Pat Summits TN that it actually makes it less desirable for an already established coach. If I'm doing fine at baylor I'm not leaving my own opportunity to create a legacy for myself and baylor to come and coach under the shadow of the biggest legacy in the game of womens basketball....**** loads of money, which they won't do for a womens coach, or someone who's played or worked under pat summit is what we'll get...

Not quite. She had a girl. She the link earlier in the thread.

I did not go back in the tread, sorry. The report I saw said they named her "Justice", I assumed a boy, my bad.
A girl is even better when she coaches the Lady Vols, she can play for her mom.

I would love to have Niki also but her and Holly are really good friends. I just wonder if Holly was hurt by not getting the job would Niki in return because of this not take the job because of the friendship. This is the type of person Niki is not stating anything just a question.

Nikki is the logical choice....UT grade and from Oak Ridge......On Pat's national championship team......assistant with Pat......2 time head coach......great recruiter......

Seems like a natural to me.

IMO Nikki is perfect to take over when Pat decides to retire..Mulkey would be good if only we had a women's boxing program..:aggressive:

But I digress..Caldwell would have the Lady Vols back in the Top 5 and the Final Four with close to the same regularity as the past IMO.

:)Plus, she IS hot..

She maybe a logical choice but not the best choice.

A big-time program needs a big-time coach.

I think it's safe to say that few, if any, available coaches could replicate Pat's success. We just need to hope that the next person who steps in can keep the train rolling to some extent.
