I’ve said this on this forum before. When some make all the money and most make nothing there will be trouble in the locker room. I’m hearing Banks is butt hurt over money. If so tell him to go get a job or learn about basic economics. You have to be marketable!

This is an obvious issue in hindsight out that i never considered. Think on it, all players do the same workouts, practices, travel, etc but some making bank and others get nothing. Of course that is going to cause resentment. As far as Banks in particular, he seems like a bad apple to put it lightly. After that stuff with the police when Pruitt was here, he said some disgusting things in that video tape. I was hoping he would be permanently kicked off the team back then. I feel like that incident rose to that level.

Post even less than how much @BigALWiLson told you.

I agree NIL is already hurting college football. I really believe this is the problem with Texas A&M this year, and if what I am hearing is true, this is a problem at the Vols. Don't know if what I am hearing is true or not, but if it is, there is a problem. It is causing discipline problems, and players playing for themselves more than the team.

But you can't win without the "unmarketable" ones. A reasonable compromise would to let all NIL deals be team deals split equally amoung the team. When you get a team full of "in it for the NIL only" players I really can't see that working out well.

How well do you think nico is gonna be received? Told my son years back if they every did NIL that college foot ball would be dead . Paying players is fine but the way it's being done does nothing but create individuals and not a team ..If it were me ,all players would get a certain amount . Every game you were a starter would pay you more. Have bonuses for certain achievements for individual players at their position..Have a cap on everything. Sponsorship to individuals shouldn't be in the college game ..The NCAA is useless ..This would drive competition and not division like it will do ..Hoping from team to team in the portal was the beginning of problem. The sport is based on a team and that concept is dead now ..Don't know if rumors are true and don't care because the problem is gonna get worse and worse ..

This is exactly why I haven't and won't donate to NIL.

In the infancy stage on how to deal with this from a team chemistry standpoint. I don’t doubt there are issues to resolve.

Truth be told it’s been this way for a long time even before NIL. Really since social media got hugely popular. It’s just about marketing oneself. Pretty much all the pageantry, romance and definitely the amateurism aspect seems completely gone. Thays what i loved about college football. It really is just NFL-lite. We even have “playoffs now” with meaningless bowl games

I don't know what the answer is, but telling players they can only make a certain amount while coaches are getting insane $100M deals with guaranteed buyouts doesn't sound right either.

Never considered? Lol. Some of us, like yours truly, talked about it all the time when one player pulls up in a $100k car but the another one hitches a ride then you will start to see factions. This sport was always an amateur sport.

What happens when someone gets a promotion at work over others who think they are just as deserving?

I don't know what happened in this situation. What we do know is the defense was UNACCEPTABLE. We need to keep the focus on that.

Yeah but those 100mil.deals are for 10 years ...These guys stay for three..These guys are 18-23 not 35 and older ...You trying to tell me players have more responsibility than coaches ? You have to take that into account ..

NIL isn’t hurting the sport. And just like in all avenues of life, some always make far more than others. This has been true in college football well before the nil came along

There’s a certain 5-star OL asking for NFL 1st round Quarterback type money.

This is not good and not sustainable.
Teams just need to step up and say no but if anyone cracks it’ll get out of hand like the buyouts. Someone will crack.

Afraid you are right. But hell, Banks is 4 months from the draft, he needed to keep working on his resume and get paid in the NFL. He is that close. If this stuff about Banks is true, his lack maturity in how he handle this really hurt his stock. Maybe a practice squad player for the NFL now if even that.

Why’s it not good? People can ask for whatever they want and if someone is willing to pay it good for them.

I’m sure there’s unemployed people expecting $500 an hour too.

I love College football. It’s my #1, #Nfl is very distant 2nd. This killing my passion for the sport and I am afraid folks are right on the NIl deals. It’s going to destroy the sport. Well if continues to get worse, that means Saturdays are freed up for more fishing

Superstar players receiving limited amounts of money, cars, etc is nothing new to college ball and it has been fairly well tolerated thus far by the everyday blue collar players. But now that the NIL money is becoming substantial I can’t see how the status quo of years past is going to fly. Sadly the game is changing and not for the better I’m afraid.

That’s not the purpose of NIL. If one player is more marketable than another, why should he split his money with 100+ other guys? That is not the way any other job works. Do you think some KC Chiefs want to make Patrick Mahomes’ money since they practice just as much? Of course they do, but they have to have enough sense to realize it doesn’t work that way.
