Dylan Sampson has been a beast all year ..I just ask can he get enough nil money to consider another year and a run for heisman ..of does he hit the draft..either way we will always love what sampson has meant .and i will enjoy watching him on sunday..but i wanna see 1 more at college level
A stark reality is that the Vandy game could be Sampson's last game as a Vol. Wright sat out our bowl game last year and I would expect Sampson to follow that route.

What if UT makes the playoff?
I think he plays in the playoffs, but could sit to heal and get ready for the combine if they're only in a bowl game. It really depends on what he's hearing about his draft stock imo.

RBs have a short shelf life career wise. He would be smart to go and he will. He's having a breakout season and could return next year to only get injured and take a massive hit to his draft stock.

Non-playoff bowl games are a joke. If he does come back, I hope he skips the bowl game and lets under-classmen play showing us whats in the future. Sort of like an Orange-White game.

The risk vs reward dictates he will go to the NFL. He could get injured in college and diminish his value in the NFL. That has happened before to good players.

I was recently one of those that thought he would for sure be gone, but Mel Kiper disagrees and he's usually not that far off. If that's the case he probably wont be drafted, especially since late round Rbs are not valued very high in the NFL from a $$$ standpoint.

Spyre's NIL deal might be higher than his UDFA deal, even if it were 2-3 years. This could allow him to come back, but I am not 100% sure about how much NIL would offer either. Lots of factors there.

Im sure Heup and Co would have some input in that too. A huge Senior year could vault him up into the the upper rounds next year.

According to Mel Kiper Jr., the top 10 running backs in the 2025 NFL Draft are:
  • Ashton Jeanty: Boise State
  • Omarion Hampton: North Carolina
  • Kaleb Johnson: Iowa
  • Tahj Brooks: Texas Tech
  • Quinshon Judkins: Ohio State
  • Nicholas Singleton: Penn State
  • Le'Veon Moss: Texas A&M
  • Jonah Coleman: Washington
  • Jordan James: Oregon
  • TreVeyon Henderson: Ohio State

Kiper is completely retarded.

Sampson leads the SEC in rushing by a MILE, averages almost 6 yards per carry on a run 1st offense against stacked boxes and set the all time UT record for TDs in a season. He will set the yardage record too...behind a questionable Oline that got us beat by Arkansas AND UGA.

Sampson will be the 2nd back taken, probably 3rd round. Feel free to quote this for posterity.

We are loaded for the future.

Sampson is gone, but we will have 3 really good backs next season even AFTER Seldon transfers or is moved to another position.

Bishop
Lewis
Freshman Baker.

Thats the 3 headed monster next season, though Lewis will probably pass Bishop for RB1. They ALL need to get much better at pass blocking though.

With the NIL money, it might not be a stretch for some players to stay an additional year to make more as they would as NFL rookies.

In Sampsons case the NFL would be a 3-4 deal -- NIL is a one year deal

Go 6-6 or 7-5 even next year and tell me that. Too much money involved now to settle for Mediocre.
I think it would depend on the circumstances. I don’t have a short enough memory to forget what he inherited and that he has us in position to make the CFP this season and also have us at double digit wins in 2 of the past 3 years with multiple wins over Bama and Florida, Orange bowl win, Citrus bowl win…. Etc. So if anyone is dumb enough to blow all that up now that we have a coach who can compete with anyone in the country on any given Saturday then we’ll get whatever we deserve. We do not need to become Auburn or even Florida at this point .

Why the heck you asking us? Do we look rich to you? Does this look like a forum for richers?

You gotta go sign up for one of those fancy pants private Tennessee message boards what which cost big bucks. That's where the moneyed gentry is. Go ask them. Or - sign up, and pay, and then ask them.

And then come back and tell us what they say. And give me some money too.
First of all sa i cant see you thru a message board .so to answer your question i have no clue what you look like.i can a out imagine its probaly feminine look

He has been great, for sure, but in my opinion the RB position is the position group on offense that is being developed the best since CJH has gotten here. Everybody was cautiously excited for Sampson being the guy, but I imagine everyone would have wanted J Wright to stay another year. We are recruiting and developing that position at an elite level. I am excited for what the combo of Lewis, Seldon, and Bishop can do next year. I hope Sampson lands with a team that suits his skill set.

Its not just about NIL. The running back position in the NFL has one of the shortest life spans of any position group, and players must be in the league for at least 3 recorded seasons to be eligible for the NFL pension. So typically, players (especially running backs) want to start that clock as soon as possible to ensure pension eligibility.

That, and to get to the all important second contract, if he's fortunate enough to stay healthy and be the same contributing back he's been here. That second NFL contract is where the generational money really is.
