Probably not.Tennessee football fans- media say they need to spend more .
Tennessee is spending around 11milion NIL. Top spending team is spending around 22 million NIL..
With university allowed to spend 20 million to pay directly to their student athletes next year .If it goes as planned they can pay their student athletes.
will more money cries from the football crowd hurt Lady volunteers basketball NIL funding?
True on Texas and LSU.the unintended consequences is the cultural expectations on the "best" teenager athletes, who have an agent at age 16, and then they make their decision more on $ than preference of schools.
the other recognition is that oil money in Louisiana and Texas is significant to why their state schools recruit better. LSU, most recent example, best portal additions re football.
Ohio State’s enrollment is almost 3 1/2 times what Tennessee’s is. They have more alumni, so a bigger base to get NIL donations from. They also have 12 billionaires as alums. That helps. Tennessee has 5, and 3 are from the same family.True on Texas and LSU.
Where Ohio state getting their money at #2?
About 1:45: of the video he names top 15 spending teams in order Tennessee #15
winning sports teams create interest and recognition for ALL of the university's entitiesIMO, it's not right to keep expecting Tennessee's billionaire alumni to keep bankrolling all the new buildings, new stadiums, the teams, and the individual players we already have or hope to sign when there are FAR more important things they could, and SHOULD, be spending whatever throwaway money they have to spend on.
Not that I haven't always been super grateful for all they've done and will ever do for the University of Tennessee, but good grief. Look around. There are needs greater than having winning sports teams.
Fire away!
I'm not telling people to spend money or not spend money.IMO, it's not right to keep expecting Tennessee's billionaire alumni to keep bankrolling all the new buildings, new stadiums, the teams, and the individual players we already have or hope to sign when there are FAR more important things they could, and SHOULD, be spending whatever throwaway money they have to spend on.

they are people who run programs feeding people drilling water wells. They are leaving the earth better off than they found it. NOW thats worth something more than a champship. And feeding the severely food-insecure keeps hungry childrens' internal organs functioning properly. To me, that's more important.

I didn't say the billionaire alumni should stop supporting athletics and the university. I guess I'm just saying everyone depends on them to do it, ALL THE TIME, and I'm thinking they may be overspending to win sports games. It's all so out of control, and I wish sometimes everyone would just say, "Enough! There are children going to school hungry every day and will only eat ON school days IF their parents aren't too proud to ask for help with lunches!" But we have teen-agers who know how to play a sport demanding millions of dollars to let you sign them. It's obscene IMO.That’s completely fine, but if you don’t have enough money backing the programs then you will not be competitive in the future. Not in recruiting, and thus not on the court. If the other schools have more alumni and and more sources for spare cash, and you pass on competing with them, then you must accept never being competitive at the highest level again.
That’s what happens when we reduce the college athletics experience to be solely about money. The biggest pile will usually - not always, but usually - win.
This model is not sustainable.I didn't say the billionaire alumni should stop supporting athletics and the university. Men who do "have a pair" are threatening to women who "have a pair"Why not Men, in this male-dominated world, get a pair and lead the way? Too much pressure?
You're in a state of constant delusion.Men who do "have a pair" are threatening to women who "have a pair"
I have always said of myself, "in a room full of Alphas, I am the Alpha",,,unless I recognize someone who is better equipped to lead, then I step back and learn from that person....Its not about pressure. I love a position of leadership, especially if I can train an underling to become a good leader.
