i realize it's 3 and 1/2 months till february. i believe we've got the best coaching staff in the nation. but i'm asking will we get any 5 stars??

look at the 21 existing 5 stars right now. we don't really have a good shot at getting any of them... correct me if i'm wrong here.

sure, some of our commitments could eventually be 5 stars (ambles, miller, miscellaneous), but is that realistic? i don't see it happening that way.

once the presently uncommitted 5 stars start pulling the trigger it's possible we could be leap frogged by a couple teams.

so, my questions are:

1. Will we have any five stars in february?
2. Will it matter if we don't? (and where will we end up?)

...it would be kinda cool to put together this awesome class and finish like number 3 or 4 with all 4 stars; i think it's very possible. (likely, actually)

i think/hope we get luc and if we do he'll eventually regain his 5th star and i also think miller and ambles will get a 5th star

There will be a lot of great classes, that don't have a 5 star.

We currently have (11) 4 * players committed.
If we get that number up to 15 or 16, which is very possible, we will have a lot of high quality players. According to the rankings.

ill take a team full of 4 star linemen every year, they can make the 3 stars look like 5 star players

just depends on whos ratings your looking at.

Agree, QB Tyler Bray is 4 * on rivals 3 * on Scout. DE Jacques Smith and ATH Demarco Cobbs are both 5 * on Scout and 4 * on Rivals. I think some of our guys end up 5 * on both and all of our current commits move up in ratings. As far as who is still out there that we could get...I think we land LB Jeff Luc and he is 5 * on Scout and 4 * on Rivals. Then there is S Dietrich Riley and CB Demetrius Wright who are both 4 * on both Scout and Rivals but either could end up 5 *. We have a shot at both of them. Outside shot at RB Michael Dyer who is a 5 * on both. Either way we end up with a top 5 class IMO.

Corey Miller will be a 5* as long as he keeps it up in the AA games and Shrine Bowl
Theres an outside shot at Lattimore
Luc will probably get his 5th star back and we've got a good shot

Who cares.

This is all so subjective and irrelevent.

We are getting and will continue to get good players.

Miller is on the verge of a 5star. Luc will regain his after he blows some people up in the All-American game...

Jonathan Crompton was a five star

I dont think it matters. According to Rivals, Texas is/has been #1 for months now and has yet to snatch a 5 star commit and its not necessarily going to happen either. I think (but really dont know) theyre about done with their recruiting and have been for a long time. Thats probably why they havent picked up anyone since mid-summer. Therefore, we too could still end up really, really high without getting a 5*

I'd trust the guys who get paid the big bucks to evaluate and develop talent over some web geeks and their grading system. After the last recruiting class where we landed Jackson and Brown late in the game, I'll trust in the work of this staff to go out and get whoever they want. Regardless if they are a two star or a five star I think this staff will recruit and develop winners.

Who cares about stars? How is 5-star Chris Donald panning out? How about 3-star recruits Colt McCoy & Sam Bradford?

Stars on recruiting websites hold about as much water as the rotating ones below our avatars.

As far as I'm concern about star ratings I don't get into that stuff, The way I look at it even though players are highly touted they still have to go out on the field prove they're highly touted players.

I have always put more stock in who is recruiting a particular player rather than star rankings. When you see all the big schools recruiting a guy, you can bet he can play or has the potential to play at a high level. Thee are always exceptions, but they're right more times than wrong.
