i realize it's 3 and 1/2 months till february. i believe we've got the best coaching staff in the nation. but i'm asking will we get any 5 stars??
look at the 21 existing 5 stars right now. we don't really have a good shot at getting any of them... correct me if i'm wrong here.
sure, some of our commitments could eventually be 5 stars (ambles, miller, miscellaneous), but is that realistic? i don't see it happening that way.
once the presently uncommitted 5 stars start pulling the trigger it's possible we could be leap frogged by a couple teams.
so, my questions are:
1. Will we have any five stars in february?
2. Will it matter if we don't? (and where will we end up?)
...it would be kinda cool to put together this awesome class and finish like number 3 or 4 with all 4 stars; i think it's very possible. (likely, actually)
Our board does not look like Rivals rankings...
That said we still are pursuing very hard several 5 star recruits although it is an outside shot with most.
We have a very real chance of getting one of the Rivals 5 star RBs. If we upset Bama this whole class could rocket, and even if we do not if we throttle USCe we can help ourselves with Lattimore and Quarles.
5 stars we are still pursuing:
Prater who is probably staying at USC but could be at OU
Seastrunk who is probably an LSU guy
R Powell who we better hope goes to USC because if not he is coming to UF
Lattimore
Keenan Allen who Reaves is still after and who we have a good shot with if we get a visit
James Hurst
Robert Crisp
Probably cannot sway either, but the ACC and their respective teams (UNC and NC State) look really bad this year...
Jordan Hicks is only mentioned here because 1. if he goes to Alabama it may help us get Mosley and 2. the staff would rather have Luc than him.
Matt Elam may be too scared to try to fill Berry's shoes. Looks like his visit was an Urban Meyer ploy, but we are still pursuing hard.
Lamarcus Joyner. An FSU lock for a while? So now he looks like a Buckeye but we are not out of it for him.
Chris Martin, we would need an ND collapse. A Weis fire and we get him I think, but less than that he is probably a domer.
Michael Dyer. I believe that he is TN's #1 RB on the board and we would offer him and Dakota Mosley to make a remarkable number of teammates in this recruiting class.
Ego Ferguson. We would have happily lost J.C. Copeland for him. However he wants guaranteed playing time and we cannot give it. The staff likes two of our committed DEs significantly more than this Rivals 5 star. It is yet another example of our staff feeling that they are much better talent evaluators.
Out of all of these I feel the best about Joyner and an RB, either Dyer or Lattimore and I hope it is Dyer. Even if we get no current Rivals 5 stars, our class will be absolutely absurdly good. We may finish behind USC in overall star average, but I doubt it as you will see when I make my new thread about who we drop...
