no cheerleaders?

I get the whole yell leader tradition at football games but what about basketball. Does ATM at least have a female dance team or do they have dudes perform that too? IMO, we need to get NOW to file a Title IX lawsuit. I've seen ATM coeds. They deserve to be displayed in cheerleading uniforms for the entire SEC to see. They have to leave the Big12 mentality behind. The SEC is all about sharing.

On this we agree.

It's a mixed bag. Yes, A&M has a dance team for basketball games...but that came onto the scene long after I left College Station. And yes...the Yell Leaders are also at the basketball games. I'm all for the Yell Leaders at the football games but wish they were not part of basketball. I think more and more Aggies feel the way I do about this.

By the way, fraternities and sororities were not recognized by the university until about twenty years ago...and have never gained the popularity in College Station as they've had at other universities.

No offense to my SEC brethren now, but those look like milkmen, not cheerleaders. A&M used to be an all male school, but that changed, maybe the all male cheerleaders will change as well. I'm not looking forward to the A&M hotties thread if it doesn't change.

It' does not make you correct to say that you won't, when you have just as little proof as those who think you will. I doubt it happens, but you NEVER know.

Yeah, just like ut might start trotting out a tiger or chuck wagon before games.

The only tradition I can think of that has ended at A&M during my lifetime has been Bonfire. I respect the poster's opinion...but male Yell leaders will always be a part of A&M football. When one personally experiences the control these five young men have over 40,000 students you'll understand how important they are to the crowd noise at Kyle Field.

The one tradition the article did not mention, which should have been right after the Yell Leaders...is the 12th Man....Aggies stand for the entire game...they only sit down at halftime.

Kyle Field=not impressive. Sorry bout your luck. In the big 12 you're middle of the pack.. in the SEC there's the cellar teams and then there's a&m. Can't wait for the first Neyland Stadium beatdown of the ags

A&M would have their way with Vandy, Ole Miss, Kentucky and Auburn, would probably be favored on a neutral field against Miss St and UGA, and would probably beat us as well.

Add to all that their potential ceiling being raised just by virtue of joining the SEC, and there you have it.

I think you mentioned KY twice. Would not agree with the bold portion of your post.

Not having cheerleaders is a bit odd, IMO.

Whoops on Kentucky. Meant to put Vandy on. What have you seen from Auburn to lead you to believe they are even good?

As for us, literally all we have is Bray and the receivers, and I feel pretty confident in saying that Weeden and his wideouts are better than what we've got; and they were stuffed in the first half before the Aggies decided to take a crap. If A&M plays a full 60 minutes, they would win in Neyland.

I believe our defense would win this one for us. Why? Because I'm not impressed with their offense. As far as Auburn goes they're pretty even but I think Aubbie would pull it out.
