Brothers, uncles, family trips together etc.

We actually rely on one another and protect one another.

We also have had a total of zero rapes in our family.

It is interesting how that works out.

Lock someone up in a tower and they won't get raped, either. There is a balance to be struck between living one's life to the fullest and taking reasonable precautions to mitigate (note, I do not say eliminate) risks.

Depends on the family. You are correct though that most rapes take place with someone who is known to the other individual.

If you look at family rape rates around the world there are very disturbing patterns and some groups are impacted at multiples of other groups.

I described someone who is mitigating, not someone who is locked in the tower. Your daughter can be off at college, go dancing in a club, go running a park (though not by herself unless she is trained and has a gun), go to her job, blah blah blah.

If you stay aware and sober enough to protect yourself and do not trust slimeballs you will not get raped.

Rape and HIV infection are absurd fears. If you are raised well and take care of yourself, you are as likely to be stricken by either as you are to get eaten by a Shark.

Rely on God, protect yourself. That is not living in a police state, but it means that my sons and daughters will grow up able to take care of themselves.

My wife has triple A and a cell phone when she is driving without me. I change my own tires when they go flat. She will never be stranded somewhere without me.

A lack of preparation and poor choices lead to so many preventable tragedies. Predators seek out the weak and unprepared. I have never had the privilege of taking out an attempted rapist, but I guarantee you if I had been in the car with the abducted couple in Knoxville there would have been a gunfight and if I was driving I would have used my car to grind 3 or 4 sick individuals to pulp.

Would have saved the criminal justice system significant dollars.

I can agree with being prepared. Have to be responsible...especially with children involved. However, bringing firearms everywhere borders on paranoia. Is it just an obsession with guns or is it intense fear of negative circumstances?

When you start to carry honestly you do not think about it after a while. It is like putting on socks and shoes.

I hope I do not need to use it, but it is good to be prepared.

No females in my family have been raped.

All of the females are independent women.

It is interesting how that works.
