We need offensive production from ZZ and/or Key. If one of them can be the consistent or they alternate in the role we are in a lot better shape. Right now this team does not have an offensive identity. We literally have 5 guys all averaging between 10-11 points a game. The JJJ averaging 9. There is no consistent leader. A lot is injuries and them not getting in a rhythm because the lineups are not stable? But still not one guy has consistently stood up and carried the load. The Closest has been Philips who is the most consistent but he's a freshman. If one or more of our guards can get hot for a couple games it will spark the offense.Assuming JJJ needs more rest for SEC, plus Santi is at 80% right now…offense is going to struggle at times. Need the Big O to step up.
I think UVA just looked awful honestly. Looked like us at times the last few seasons where we couldn't throw it in the ocean from the boat. Still a good win regardless.
41.7% is not good enough to win most nights. The bigger problem was 27% from 3, a lot of which were very open. It is what it is.I think I'd credit that to Houston's defense and their ability to limit second shot opportunities. UVA shot 41.7%, so they weren't abysmal shooting the ball. That should be good enough to win, most nights.
For a bad defensive team, no, you're right. But for a good defensive team like UVA, 41.7% is good enough, most nights. Tennessee is averaging 40.4%, as a team, right now, and stands at 9-2 and a top-10 team. They've also shot under 41.7% in 5 of their 9 wins.41.7% is not good enough to win most nights.
