Ok Kentucky is but almost every other team can sneak up and beat you, if you make mistakes.

Used to be that Ole Miss, Miss State, Vandy, even SC most years where easy wins. Now its just KY and this year Arky. FL was down this year, but that is rare. The addition of Mizzou and A&M haven't made life any easier either!

Call it parity, a lot of decent coaches hired and recruiting hard?? The point is when you have to win several SEC games to get to a bowl, there are Very few chumps left in the league! Just seems like the tough SEC keeps getting Tougher!

Tennessee is NOT at parity but a "parody" with the majority of the SEC...

MOST consider US a "BYE" on their schedule...

This is where we are now...

2014 won't be any easier either. 9 teams on our schedule are currently preparing for a bowl game, leaving only UTC, Florida & UK as the only teams that are not. Let's hope some of our incoming freshman can learn fast and help us out.

I know every team has to deal with injuries and other off the field issues but Florida has more than the usual this year, we just lucked out and got to play them at full strength before they went to crap.

They were pretty crappy when we played them we just sucked more that day (Peterman..)

I think ole miss is going to make a rise in the west next season. They're close.

Of course they will. If you're an SECw team and you want to be successful, just put Tennessee somewhere on your schedule.

Worked for Mississipppi State last year.

Worked for Auburn this year.

Worked for LSU in 2011.

Bama's been cashing in on it for years.

Bama and Florida are the only ones that pretty much overlook us at this point.

We play Georgia to the wire every year, we just beat SC (and almost did last year), Vandy still knows better, and KY........

Vandy may not consider us a bye game, but no words or rankings can take in account for the pride and high level of confidence Vandy has right now when they play us. I grew up, and other then when Cutler was there, Vandy was a great game for our players to get some rest. Same went for KY as long as we were playing in Neyland. Vandy has a great coach, who's main goal is to beat us every year. Sure they want to win every game, but Franklin has a vendetta every year and it's beating UT in football. Two weeks guys, two, CBJ and Mike Baj. were given to shut down this BS of the rise of Vandy with Franklin, and we still couldn't score enough to win. No excuses for it, and we are lucky it hasn't cost us recruiting. UT next year, even though we will be even younger and less experienced, have to beat Vandy, KY, and win all our easy games.

Butch Jones will never lose to Vanderbilt again.

How do I know?

Look at the last three times we've played them.

2011: UT wins. Barely. But you can tell the wheels are about to come off. No way should that game even have been close.
2012: Vandy clobbers us. Franklin is out for blood. The wheels aren't just off, they're not even in the vicinity. Dools is canned.
2013: Vandy wins. Barely. With a considerable amount of assistance from the officiating crew.

That 2013 Vandy squad is not any worse than the 2012 one that destroyed us. In fact, I would say they were better. On the other hand, our 2013 team was nowhere near our 2012 team. Not even close. When you have to replace two NFL WRs, an NFL TE, and an NFL QB, that's gonna be a given. So we ran it right down to the wire with a worse team...and still almost won. What's the difference? Butch MF Jones.

Think about it. Give Butch Jones that 2012 team and all the NFL-bound talent on it. You think he loses? No way. Not a chance. Now give Dools our 2013 team. We may be down 50-0 at home.

It's simple. Look at Georgia, look at South Carolina. Even though we went 5-7 in Season 1, and I'll admit it wasn't where we were looking to be, it's very noticeable that Butch has turned the tides back in our favor. I fully expect that we're gonna wax Vandy next year. Butch may even run up the score. I for one hope he does.

There are a lot of talented players throughout college football now.

You can't underestimate even the historically mediocre teams.

Tennessee football will rise again and claim the NC once again, it will take one to three years but CBJ will get it done.

With the 2014 class coming in it has begun are people still going to hate? Sure they will CBJ could crap a gold brick and some would still hate.

I wonder is there one thread on VN without negativity in more than one post if so bet there is not many.

However if we hate the haters what are we?

Some have forgotten how to believe or choose not to anymore and that's their right.

You can say "no excuses" all you want about the Vandy loss, but when your 4th string QB throws for 50 yards and 3 picks the whole game, and you still only lose by 4, it's not an excuse..... it's the legitimate reason we lost.

With Worley in the game we beat Vandy by 3 scores, and they won't always have our 4th string QB in the game to help them win. I admit they are better than they used to be, but a lot of stars aligned for them this year to get to where they were. I'm nowhere near sold yet. They are still a garbage team that could just barely squeak out a last second win against Josh Dobbs.

My thoughts exactly. Any team knows they'll be good if Tennessee is on their schedule . Not sure how we avoided A&M last year!! Oregon plays bad football for 100 yrs & we don't play them. 8-10 good years & guess who is on their schedule...TWICE. So OM fans get ready for a 10-2...11-1 season in '14!

Unfortunately, there are still chumps in the SEC and the last 3 years we have been one of them. Our pathetic SEC record the last few years doesn't lie.

No doubt about it. You are what your record says you are.
