No more chumps in the SEC!

You can say "no excuses" all you want about the Vandy loss, but when your 4th string QB throws for 50 yards and 3 picks the whole game, and you still only lose by 4, it's not an excuse..... it's the legitimate reason we lost.

With Worley in the game we beat Vandy by 3 scores, and they won't always have our 4th string QB in the game to help them win. I admit they are better than they used to be, but a lot of stars aligned for them this year to get to where they were. I'm nowhere near sold yet. They are still a garbage team that could just barely squeak out a last second win against Josh Dobbs.

You are way to high on Worley. 3 TDs? Worley is just as bad as Dobbs, but the difference between the two is that at least Dobss can run a little. He's no great runner, but Worley is terrible in the read option. We beat SC because North caught three crazy passes by Worley. There's simply no excuses to lose the way we did against Vandy. Even though Dobbs was terrible, our pass calling was suspect to say the least. You have to put your young QB in a position to help you win games. That was not done against Vandy no matter how much you argue it.

I think you're going to have a very hard time getting people to agree with you here.

Worley had zero turnovers against Georgia and SC. He threw for more yards than Aaron Murray did when we played Georgia. Worley could throw the ball. He was seriously finding his rhythm when he got injured, but even when the season started he threw the ball way better than Dobbs ever did.

I agree about the poor play calling against Vandy, but Dobbs has to be able to complete a pass, and it has to be to someone on our team.

Worley beats Vandy by 3 scores, maybe not 3 TD's.

I'm just telling ya if either of these guys start next year, I hope you like 5-7 and maybe 6-6 records. Worley is not good, and just because he played good against GA tells me nothing. The GA game was the only game that our offense wasn't predictable. It was the best game all around for this staff and team. Worley has a career TD to Int ratio of 1:1. He under throws 7 out of 10 balls, and he can't run a read option. Dobbs is just as bad, but at least he has time to develop. Worley has shown me nothing to say we are going to be any better with him back next year. I'm not sold on the Riley hype either, but it really can't get much worse. We passed for the second lowest yards since something like 2002 with a senior line that's made to pass block, how good can anyone that played QB really be?

I think you're seriously downplaying Worley's performance against South Carolina. He had a very big hand in winning that game for us. People remember the North catch(es) and act like that's the only thing that happened in the game. Worley made some great decisions and was on the mark with some tough passes, including the TD pass to pig (IIRC) where he led the reciever well and only the receiver could get to it. And again, he had ZERO turnovers.

One thing Worley did well was exploit weak secondary's. A trait our last 4 opponents shared. Worley wouldn't have beaten Mizzou or Auburn, but he would have made it more respectable and would have routed Vandy/KY.

We don't have to agree about whether or not Worley is "good", but to say Dobbs is just as good and/or better is unreasonable.

Talent is a big reason. Texas A&M and Missouri (add in teams like Ole Miss) have had some pretty big newcomers in the last few years. The deep south consistently produces great players, so there's a reason A&M,Mizz, and Ole Miss are going to be really good for the next few years.

On a side note, UF really has no excuse for sucking, they have tons of players in FL who want to play there and the coaches are to blame. Obviously there's injuries and stuff, but that's gonna happen everywhere from time to time.

A state like KY just doesn't produce elite talent. TN has seen an increase, and you see that in the recruiting classes.

Tennessee is NOT at parity but a "parody" with the majority of the SEC...

MOST consider US a "BYE" on their schedule...

This is where we are now...

People like you are the reason I rarely venture into the Football Forum. Tell that **** to SC, bud.

Its amazing to me that there is only one dog left in the SEC.Outside of Kentucky, this league is loaded with talent and great coaches.Butch is doing a great job of recruiting so far but this staff will have to improve on the coaching that we saw this year for us to climb the ladder in this conference.

Solid post. I'm also concerned if CBJ can improve his coaching while going against such great coaches. He's learning on the job, and he's behind trying to catch up. When he's just figuring it out they are moving ahead, and just not sure if his current staff is going to bring anything new that teams haven't faced already. How auburn succeeded this year and the aggies last year. By the time his "successful" Cinci O is in place at UT it may be no big deal.

So all the hope we can have imo is that he has some tricks up his sleeves no one knows about scheme wise. And no the players he is getting isn't going to be the main factor. When ur competition has the same level of talent u do it pretty much is now on the coaching, schemes, and a tad of God's hand Auburn style of course. This season kind of left me scratching my head, and still wondering about what he'll be able to do. He lost the team as the season went along, he had 2 weeks to prepare for Vandy at home, even not having Dobbs more prepared as the season went along. Dobbs is the QB he brought and evaluated, and he didn't live up to hype so many thought he would this year.

I'm hoping that the players this year were too ingrained with Dooley stink and that this year wasn't an indictment on Butch as a coach. The lack of improvement from a lot of the upper classmen was disappointing.I refuse to listen to the "year zero" garbage. I'm looking forward to seeing Butch upgrade the talent and then see how he does coaching that talent. Have a good one.

I saw some pretty serious improvement in the senior class.

Palardy, Jacquez Smith, and Rajion immediately come to mind.

Of course they will. If you're an SECw team and you want to be successful, just put Tennessee somewhere on your schedule.

Worked for Mississipppi State last year.

Worked for Auburn this year.

Worked for LSU in 2011.

Bama's been cashing in on it for years.

We play a 6-1-1 model. Used to be a 5-1-2 model. We play every team in our division, one permanent cross-division rival (Bama) and one rotating home and home series with a cross-division team. They don't get to pick to play us.
