Everyone is worried about Arkansas as if they're some great team. They are a good team, but they aren't anything special by any means. Think Clemson here. Arkansas can run the ball really well and they'll run it against us, but they won't pass the ball and their defense won't be able to put the clamps down on us, even if Crompton is the quarterback.

This isn't over-confidence or ignorance talking, it's being realistic. The only thing we need to do is to actuallY TRY to run the ball a little bit so our defense isn't on the field 42 minutes.

Arkansas is the equivalent of paper champions. They're no doubt a really tough football team, but other than Auburn, they havn't done a whole lot to be excited about in regards to their schedule and their play. They beat the same Bama team we beat and South Carolina without Syvelle Newton. Beyond that, it's really pitiful.

It'll be hostile down there and being in Fayetville could be big, but we shouldn't be too worried.

The Hogs are playing good ball but outside of Auburn who have they beat? I don't see us losing this game but we will have to find away to slow down the running game.

yep, we havent had a stellar run d. they'll move the chains and dominate time of possession. freshman qb(prob?) on the road for the first time. it'll be a tough game. i dont know if we'll win, but it will be good experience for crompton if he plays.

I don't think any changes are gonna happen on defense.

We can't stop the run... We can't tackle...
McFadden runs for 200 (at least) and carries the Hogs to victory over a Tennessee team that's playing with a little less heart after dropping the LSU game.

The "who have they beaten" was being tossed around about LSU too. We can't run, can't stop the run, and Arkansas runs better than anyone in the SEC. We have a freshman QB making his first start on the road, at night. We have our starting RB arrested Saturday night. Add it all up and it doesn't sound very promising. Why would you think we can stop the run now when we haven't since Cal? Losing Harrell was a huge blow. We will be very fortunate to win, and now KY isn't looking like a gimme, nor is Vandy. We still have a lot of footbal left to play. We have the talent to win out, but we also have enough issues to lose out as well.

Just my 2 cents, i think yall have the best ability to shut down our Run until we play LSU. DMAC has an ankle sprain and that could slow him down. It will be a close game.

Who have we played????? Who exactly have you played?

You beat Cal and we beat Auburn.

Georgia is clearly not the top ten team they were ranked as.

Also, we beat South Carolina with Newton AND Mitchell. We shut Newton down to the point where Spurrier went with a new QB.

I really hope your players have the same attitude all week.

Personally, I think it will be a close game. McFadden has a bum ankle and it looks like Nutt is taking back control of the offense. Good luck next Saturday.

The schedules aren't 1 game long. Ours to this point has been much more difficult. Still, you have 1 more important stat ... 1 loss.

It's too late not to worry, our D needed to step up last night, and failed miserably.

Arkansas is a good team who can run the ball, McFadden ran for over 200 yards yesterday, and we put up a paltry 71 against them two weeks ago.

Their defensive coordintor Herring, is going to be blitz happy, and leave the corners on an Island, so we'll get opportunities to go down the field, but Meachem, Smith and Swain are going to have step up.

I belive there were 4-5 dropped passes on our first 3 possesions yesterday, that's not going to get us a win on Saturday.

I agree. Dont worry about us. Just look ahead to your next game. You should be able to just Waltz into Fayetteville next weekend and win, just by showing up. Please, just worry about the next game after that.

We just plain suck.....

I'll stop worrying when Ainge and Coker are back at 100% and Foster isnt on suspension.

Otherwise this game is brutal. The no. 1 SEC rushing offense, UT's biggest weakness.

We will have a very hard time with teh Hogs, but if we can stop their run and we can get our passing game going again we will win. If not, it is going to be a very long day and may be a high scoring game on their part.

Minus two tailbacks and your last statement would be true.

It's the only messure I can think of to compare how Arkansas and Tennessee match up.

Look at the overall stats in our shared opponent, South Carolina. Keep in mind both games were played at SC, so there can be no homefield advantage considered.

After reviewing total yards allowed and total yards gained - passing and rushing - I would think it would be a cause of concern for Fulmer and his staff.

For example, UT passed for 254 yards, and rushed for 71 yards, with a total of 325 total offensive yards.

Arkansas passed for 226 yards, and rushed for 276 yards, with a total of 502 yards.

Arkansas is not even a pass oriented offense, and still threw for almost the same yardage. There is no comparison in total yards rushing.

Offensive advantage: Arkansas.

Still against SC, Arkansas gave up 273 yards passing, and 71 yards rushing, for a total of 344 yards.

Tennessee gave up 230 yards passing, and 165 yards rushing, for a total of 395 yards.

Arkansas led with QB sacks at 2, while Tennessee didn't get any.

Defensive advantage: Arkansas

A blocked punt resulting in a saftey gives Arkansas a slight edge in special teams. Although UT did get more punt return yardage.

In short, Arkansas can certainly pass when needed. If you looked at the Hogs passing and rushing yards, you should see that this Razorback team is perfectly capable of running a balanced offense. "Stop the run, and you stop Arkansas" no longer applies.

All this really means nothing, but it's fun to look at. It should be a very close - and fun - game.

IMHO, if the Vols gave up 165 yards rushing to SC, you could be in trouble when faced with the Razorback's running attack.

Whatever you are smoking, start selling it and quit smoking it. What have we done the last 3 weeks to be excited about? Minus the 3 INT and 2 big TD passes to Meacham we were outplayed in ever facet of the game last night. I for one am very worried and I would rather not make another 5 hour drive home in disgust.

Before last nights SC game, Arkansas was 114th I believe in TOP while 5th in rushing yards. They score on big, long plays (as they did last night). I agree with Crompton getting good experience. Hopefully, we can at least trade big plays because watching our D last night doesn't give me much optimism that we will stop McFadden and Jones.

I am not far from agreeing with you, though I am not sure he will get that many yards (hopefully).

Newton is the better QB IMO. However I agree with a lot of what you said about the only big wins for each team. One a piece.

Agreed, agreed and agreed. :good!: Trooper has GOT to get those WR to hold on to the ball. They had been doing well before the LSU game.

well look at this.....arkansas actually has a pulse and their fans think they're among the elite. that's good because attitude like that is what makes it fun to slap you back down to reality. you tried once before to step up and play with the big boys and it came crumbling down with one drop back.....

We certainly don't have the history Tennessee has, that's for sure. UT has a fantastic program.

Most Razorback fans are trying to be humble. This season, Arkansas is indeed among the elite, and the only SEC team without a conference loss. But I understand your point. The Razorbacks have yet to come through when we've reached this point. The Hogs will have to finish what they've started to earn respect. Fair enough.

It's obvious some Hog fans have not been realistic on your board. Please forgive their goofiness - they're just excited.

gohogsgo, it was after he led tennessee to an sec championship game appearance as a freshman. thanks for asking.........speaking of 5 win seasons...oh wait....i forgot that you didn't even win 5 games last year, you won 4.

now why would you say something like that? see what i mean?

norcalhog, no offense to you. good luck on saturday. i'm actually a bit of an arkansas fan. always liked houston nutt and was a big mcfadden fan coming out of high school. it's good to see someone else step up in the west. i just don't have patience for fools such as this other fellow. As i'm sure you know, this thread is about being positive and pointing out my views on the game and arkansas.

The game will be classic on saturday. May the best team win, and as Norcal said, Don't mind people who can't be mature on an internet message board.

How can what I said be any less classy than these two quotes? And besides, when your not an ELITE program, like you mentioned, you don't have to go to a bowl game every year, or am I misunderstanding you?
