the difference in what i posted and what you posted is about as different as the history of the two schools.

i broke down my opinion of why the game will shake out the way i think it will break down.

instead of you disagreeing and making a few comments about it to perhaps start a discussion, you bring up our 5-6 season, all the while knowing you finished 4-7. that isn't going to warrant you much respect. i can get as ugly as anyone in my trash talk or i can be as civil as anyone.

i could rip on arkansas for days and you'd have very little to come back with because that's how it works when comparing schools like this. i have respect for arkansas, like i stated, and have no need to go low like that unless provoked.

I would not go as far as to say we shouldn't worry about Arky. Before the Arky-SC game, all I thought we has to worry about was their running game. Now I have to say that their other QB (I forget his name) can pass. Their offense looked very well-balanced against SC. With that said, I still think we'll win a close one.

We better worry a lot. If Ainge does not play we will get routed. Crompton threw 2 good passes to Meachem, but that second one, the LSU DB completely screwed up on. Our offense will struggle if Ainge does not play.

I have never left the side of being a Vol. LSU made as many mistakes as a team could make and beat us by four. Our offense will be pathetic if Ainge does not play at Arky. Crompton played well, but we were a little fortunate on the second TD pass to Meachem. That was a bad decison that turned out well for us. Again LSU gave us breaks and we lost by 4.

Wasn't Darby averaging over 100 yards/game. I think we can stop the run but I'm not so sure Chief will sell out to stop it. I trust him...the guys just have to step up and stop it. Can we use Stanley to stop their giant receiver who caught the gift TD that shouldn't have happened And speaking of that TD, what would the score have been mighty Hog Fans?

The critical difference between this Saturday and last Saturday is that Arkansas is no where near the most talented team in the country... NO ONE anywhere has more talent than LSU.

UT lost because LSU didn't choke when it counted... and that was really the only question going in. They had done so against Auburn and UF but they didn't against UT.

Arkansas fans will get their own taste of LSU in a few weeks... their game will likewise depend on whether LSU finds a way to give to them or not.

Give me a break. Crompton delivered a ball over 50 yards right between two defenders and you are going to down him for it? Ainge has gotten just as much "fortune" on a couple of 10 yard scores.

The offense will be fine whether Ainge plays or not. Crompton faced the #1 defense in his first real playing time... He won't face that kind of D this week and will have another week to get ready.

The real question whether UT's D will step up and if Arkansas' offense is really as good as promoted.

Puhlease.

Not an Ainge fan are you?

While I think 123 might be downplaying the job Crompton did a little, IMO he is right to some extent. The first long one was a great throw . . . The second one was definitely an underthrow into double coverage that he got away with. (Glad he did, because that was probably our only chance to pick up yardage.)

I am glad to see Crompton coming on strong as advertised.

Ainge is the QB "this season" as far as I am concerned.

However, strong competiton between Ainge and Crompton in the spring is what I want.
They should push each other to get better.

Speaking of Gifts, if J. Russell doesn't throw 3 int, yalls game woulda been a blowout for LSU.

Also, i am silently laughing you compare Darby to McFadden...

Thats it, if you can stop Darby you should have no problem stopping McFad (115 yds/g) and Jones (79 yds/game. Ark averages 240 yrds rushing a game and Bama averages 130 yds rushing-->good comparison

Note Darby averages only 74 yds per game rushing

IMHO, if the Vols gave up 165 yards rushing to SC, you could be in trouble when faced with the Razorback's running attack.

It's fun, but bone up on your stats first. Of the 165 yards rushing by SC, 85 was from the QB. SC RBs were held to 80 yards.

In all, the Vols have faced 5 teams that the QB has run on the Vols' defense to the tune of 269 yds and 3 TD:

AF Carney 52 yds 1 TD
FL Tebow 29 yds
MA Morris 32 yds 1 TD
SC Newton 85 yds 1 TD
LSU Russell 71 yds
TOTALS 269 yds 3TD

However, when facing more pocket passers, the Vols have held those QBs in check.

CA Ayoob 3 yds 1 TD
CA Longshore -14 yds
FL Leak -20 yds
ME Hankins 3 yds
GA Tereshinski -5 yds
AL Wilson -17 yds
LSU Flynn -2
TOTALS -52 yds 1 TD

In all, QBs have rushed for 217 yds and 4 TDs on the Vols this season. All other players (rbs, wrs) have netted 1011 rushing yds and 6 TDs. That is 112.3 ypg rushing defense against non-qbs. Still not great but much better at looking at the upcoming game. Mustain has -27 yards rushing on the season and Dick has 12 yards.

California is probably the closest team in terms of having 2 good running backs that the Vols have faced this season. And while the Vols were not faced with having to contain the Cal QB, they held them to only 64 rushing yards.

Yeah, and if Clint "Stone-hand" Stoerner hadn't of choked......

Just watched the replay of that game. There was plenty of time left in the game when Stoerner fumbled. Had he not fumbled, the Hogs would have punted. So instead of getting the ball at around the 46 we can assume that Tennessee gets the ball at its own 20. A nice return from Peerless Price may have gotten the ball to the 46 anyway? It still would have not mattered. The Hogs defense was sucking wind so bad that in 3 carries, Travis Henry had taken the ball from the UT46 to the Arkansas 1-yard line. 54 yards in 3 plays! 2 more carries and the Vols were leading. Its not like Stoerner fumbled into his own endzone. Folks need to give the whole Stoerner thing a rest. The Vols beat the Hogs fair and square and there was nothing fluky about it.
