utfan, there was a conversation this a.m. on local sports show (in Orlando) that Donovan declined to sign a contract extension. Apparently, he said he did not feel right doing it because Horford and Noah had given up on big bucks to stay and play and he felt like it would be wrong for him to receive a windfall for the success the team had whereas the players are sacrificing.
I'm impressed. He seems like that kind of coach, not a showboat unlike John Calipari (just kidding Hat).

Possibility, I must admit. The show hosts went on to say either he's a great guy for taking this stance or he's looking at the Knicks job.

Be careful what you wish for...

It was in jest. I think Leak is quite good and gets a bad rap. As hohens said above, Leak tends to struggle early. I also think UT has been the thorn in his side.

I dread the day that Tebow starts at QB. From what I've seen and heard he is extremely talented and pretty much a perfect fit for Meyers offense. Some people like to claim that Meyers offense won't work in the SEC because of the speed but I've got a bad feeling this isn't true and Tebow will end up the Alex Smith of the SEC

be careful about saying anything remotely positive about UF or everyone here will label you a gator fan

Tebow will be as good an opportunity as the Gators will ever have to see if that system can work in the SEC. I am not much persuaded by those who say that it won't work in the SEC because of SEC defensive speed. I think that argument is bogus because the offense has more speed, too. Its not a speed-issue.
It is a speed issue, a match up issue, and a punishment issue.

At Utah, Alex Smith was faster than any LB he faced. He didn't have to worry about the abuse since he wouldn't normally be caught. In a league where LB's run 4.4 to 4.6... you need a Vince Young with 4.3 speed to keep them out of trouble.

Match ups. At Utah again, getting a RB or WR matched on a LB or safety could be a huge problem. Again, not the case in the SEC. In fact, UT has a couple of converts from safety playing LB... and playing it well.

The abuse issue is huge. SEC teams don't even ask their RB's to take the kind of punishment Meyer needs his QB to take week in and week out.
Its a match-up issue and Florida will always have the guns to compete with that.
UF will definitely always have athletes but will those athletes be better than their SEC defenders as Utah's athletes were against their defenders? I don't think you can realistically expect that.

The SEC punishment issue is legit. Can he take the kind of hits he will be subjected to in the SEC and keep going? If he can, he's NFL material big time.
If anyone can then they'll change the shape of the NFL.
