It's tough to argue Davis winning POY, but Pearl not winning COY is a little more baffling.

Agree with you. Pearl has done more with less than anyone I can remember in a long time and that's not just in the SEC. I look at your team and I am STILL baffled by their success. That is all credit to Pearl as they have overachieved big time this year.

Hope so, my friend. And regardless, I am looking forward to the selection show and then next weekend with games galore!! I will enjoy popping in here next week to see what folks think of the draws for the SEC teams.

just wondering....
If UT/UF should be the matchup Sunday, do you think they'll go at each other as hard and physical as last time? Given that the tourney will start that Thur./Fri.?
The last game took a whole lot out of both squads and another war could definately hurt down the road....

I would expect they'd both play tough and hungry for the tourney championship. Probably a slight edge to Florida in that event just because it has a deeper bench and is not so dependent on one guy as Tennessee is on Lofton. Course, if Lofton is on then it might help him to just play one after the other after the other.

Both teams have to win two games on back-to-back days to even get there, so let's wait and see. I always worry in these things about injuries and what not. I mean, even if they play in three games over three days they will recover by next Thursday. Just don't want either of us to lose significant players at this point of the year.

Everyone including Brady knows that Pearl is the SEC coach of the year. The Vote just shows that the majority of coaches in the SEC are idiots. No wonder the league is down.

Hopefully this will give us increased motivation entering the big tourney. It's still bullcrap though, all bullcrap.UT once again passed over. Coach Pearl should have national coaching honors. :dunno:

NO one did more with less than CBP. Hands down Coach of the Year IMO. But I think the Vols late season stumble didn't help his chances.

Having said that (speaking of black helicopters), the fact that Pearl was involved in outing another program/coach. Could that have impacted the vote? I've noticed all year that the Vols have been ranked lower in the coaches poll than the AP.

Coincidence?

Not related, I felt Watson was the best PG in the conference.

eh, we did lose 3 of our last 5, not very impressive. That really hurt his chances at COY in the sec. LSU won the sec, so I guess their coach should have won it. but none of these awards matter if we dont do noise in both tourneys.

I hope so, as well. I'm gonna miss the selection show, though. Going to a concert, hopefully after watching the Vols in the championship game here.

I honestly don't expect to be there, though. I expect us to get beat Saturday, honestly.

I am not discounting the unbelievable job done by Pearl this year, because it was, but you are all way too quick to discount Brady's performance. First of all, LSU was not picked by everyone to win the SEC west, much less the whole SEC. There is a link on SEC sports showing preseason predictions. LSU was picked 2nd or 3rd in the west by most people. LSU lost Tack Minor to injury, the only true point guard on the team, after he only played 2 games. LSU played close games against USC and Ole Miss after losing Tyrus last week, but they were essentially playing with 6.5 men (Voogd being the .5) and still won a game on the road in the SEC, which is hard to do. 14-2 in the SEC is hard to do any year, no matter which division you are in, and to discount LSU because they are in the west is ridiculous considering the east v. west record this year, which is basically .500. You may also want to bash the pre-SEC performance but LSU has 3 new starters this year (freshmen) and basically a whole new bench. LSU lost 5 pre-conference games by 11 points to Houston, N. Iowa, Cincy, Ohio State, and UConn. Houston went on the road and beat LSU and Arizona that week. You can bash N. Iowa all you want but they also went and beat Iowa, the Big 10 champs, on the road as well. The other three, especially OSU and Uconn one point losses, speak for themselves. Based on that, I think Brady put together a pretty good resume and overcame difficulties throughout the season to win an outright SEC championship. I am sure it was a close race, and I am sure Pearl would have won had UT not lost 3 out of 5 to close the season.

Oh what a great question. They lost to Northern Iowa and Houston. Give me a break.

When Northern Iowa beat LSU, they were playing their best basketball of the season. They have since gone from a sure bet to go to the Dance, to being a bubble team.

I can see good arguements for COY from both sides. However, BP should have received the award. What BP did for Tennessee in his first season as a coach is remarkable.

I wouldn't get too bent out of shape about this. It's only a trophy, not a championship.

Agree. Bruce has done the most to improve a team. Everyone knows it. Next thing to do is take them into the tournament fired up.

Hmmm. I thought Pearl was supposed to be an absolute lock for NATIONAL Coach of the Year. Has anyone EVER won the National Coach of the Year Award without winning the Coach of the Year Award for their own conference? :eek:lol: I told you guys. UT's collapse over the last two weeks of the regular season cost Pearl any shot at National Coach of the Year. Roy is going to win it. Pearl did a fantastic job this year, but you have to finish strong to win NCOY.

Northern Iowa is probably going to the tournament. Houston beat Arizona.

Northern Iowa lost to Indiana State. Enough said.
Indiana State also beat Indiana. If you do some rudimentary research, you would see that ISU lost about 10-12 straight games while their best player was out with injuries. They then picked back up and began to play well after he returned. I'm on Pearl's side, but why do you ignore the beatdown LSU laid on UT head to head?

Hey look hatevol. I am just a big fan. Give me a break. Why do you have to be so aggresive with your posts. You try to make people feel stupid. I am sorry if I am not as sharp as you on the ins and outs.

By the way we were down only 4 with less than 8 minutes to go so I don't know if you would classify that as a beatdown.

Not trying to make you look stupid. Just pointing out that the loss by Northern Iowa to Indiana State doesn't really have much to do with the SEC coach of the year race. You certainly owe me no apology, if you know LSU lost to Northern Iowa, that shows you're well informed. I agree with you on who should have won the award. I just think the fact that Brady has an NBA frontline and UT has Wingate, Patterson, and Bradshaw is a much better argument on Pearl's behalf.

With all due respect, who the hell cares what the score was with 8 minutes left? You can be down by 4 with 8 minutes left and then still lose by 20 or more if you play poorly enough in the final 8 minutes.

They play 40 minutes. The score with 8 minutes left doesn't really matter.
